No boom; Just a little ping-ping.

1st run, snapped an axle, drove to autozone, drove back to the track, fixed it quick.

2nd run, bogged launch to a 2.3, hit the 90 shot right there, it was INTENSE. Pinged a little at the top of 3rd and 4th, sounded like a rod knock, just light. Ended up driving it home, and there's no more noise. I guess it was lifter tap afterall. I am going to change the oil and check for shavings or anything.

R/T: -.067
60': 2.341
330: 5.965
1/8: 8.886
1/8 MPH: 83.73
1000': 11.426
1/4: 13.589
1/4 MPH: 103.60

All in all it wasn't bad, my button idea worked perfectly. 1st and 2nd were kinda scary. As soon as I hit the button I was almost at 7K in 1st. It spun my 225's really hard going into 2nd.

Next time out, I'm gonna have to run colder plugs and higher octane.

Nice. The high rpm/high load ping could have been detonation. If you get the solid lifters get ready to rev it should take about 1/2lb out of the valve train

I think it was a little detonation. Mopar DOHC ecu, 93 octane, 10.3:1 compression, stock plugs, and no spark taken out. I'm going to get colder range plugs and mix a little 116 when I run it at the track next time.

Just swing by the Sunoco at Rt 40 and 272 in North East and get the 100 octane

Yeah, I should have. Just didn't think to do it until I was already at the track. Next time, I'll be on it. Colder plugs, and 100 octane. I really gotta figure out my launch with these dr's. I might try to steal my buddies slicks again though, I loved those.

Stock plugs?

I'm not a nitrous expert but I have sprayed on a few cars and I've always used a stage or two colder when spraying. Just for peace of mind.

I love your 1GN....pretty fricken awesome. You should be getting into the 1.8s and 1.9s with some DRs/Slicks I'd think.

Yeah, I'm a knuckle head. I knew that I needed colder range plugs, I just didn't run them. I could get into the 1.8-1.9 range if I could keep axles on the car. If I got slicks, I'm sure I would be doing better, since axles will flex where dr's and street tires wont.

Word - but awesome build. I like it a lot...

Mid 13s on a 1gn Coupe with no turbo is pretty cool.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it, especially coming from you. The only thing I can keep thinking though, is how awesome the car would be if it went 13.5 on motor, and faster on spray.

FML, changed the oil a few mins ago, and the old filter gasket stayed on the drain. I of course missed it. I started the car and oil was leaking out. I knew what happened instantly. I was livid, still am. Going to have to drain out all the oil because I'm not sure how much is left in the pan or not, there was a lot on the ground.

Better caught in the driveway rather then driving down the street and blow the motor up.

GG :P

Yea 13.5s N/A would be super sick.... I keep looking at 1GNs around here now just because of you and that silly canadian fellar with his black one.

Hey man, they're cheap and fun. You can't beat em.

Honestly, if I went to a forged 10.5:1 block, with my milled head, and ITB's, I'd be mid 13's on motor if I could hold axles. My cam is HUGE for the compression I'm running.

I'm retarded.

The rocker arm shafts have a notch cut in them. Point them up when you install them.

No more tapping/knocking, the mag survives another day.

I'm still thinking about parting it out and going bigger.

Finally re-learned how to launch this car on street tires again. The clutch was acting strange for a while. Whenever I'd be taking off from a light sort of fast, around 2500 rpm's, it'd make a "whump" sound for a split second. This scared me, so I wouldn't slip the clutch at the track, just dump it. Well, I finally did a 3500 fast slip, while feeding the gas in. It worked really well, I'll do that the next time at the track, maybe a hair higher if I'm on DR's.

I still gotta BUY the hi comp motor :-(.

Going to the track again tonight, back to a 65 shot, and hopefully a better launch. Doubt I'll match my 13.5, but I'll still have to use my helmet.

Dude the weight from the helmet is gunna put you down at least 3 tenths. oh noes! Best of luck man. I think feathering the clutch nets the best street tire launches too.

Welp, went to the track and did god damn horrible. I'm scared to dump the clutch on these tires for some reason. I'm going to dump them and hopefully get some real slicks and fucking keep them. My best 60 with me slipping the clutch was a low 2.2, and my best run was a 14.0 @ 101. I really need to get a bottle heater for this car. I ended up around 950 pounds of bottle pressure by the end of the night, I wanna say zex designed the kit around 1100.

if you are discrete you can use a propane torch to heat the bottle.

i heard they were cracking down on that as of late at Cecil though. Don't know about Capitol.

900+ bottle pressure is fine. I heard someone told you those tires were a mistake. I heard the same guy told you to stop being a pussy and get the high comp motor.

Jerry you're at the point where you start doing things the right way, or not at all. That's usually around the 11.00 index for v8 guys.

You were right. They were free though. They also weigh 5 pounds more a piece than my street tires, and taller than them. Um gonna sell these and get slicks at this point. And try to get the hi comp motor soon.

Someone is going to let me borrow a pair of kosei k1 wheels with 22x8x15 slicks. He dosen't need the slicks, and the car wont be ready for a while. I just have to give the wheels back when the slicks are donezo.

Small updates:

I dropped a cam sensor bolt into my clutch inspection hole (no, I didn't have the cover). I thought that it had cleared the car, but it didn't. It ended up getting hung up in the flywheel somewhere and the car wouldn't start at Marley Mall. I decided that I was going to pull the motor to do it this time. Then, I decided, I could part out my build, and go with something better. I took an afternoon and pulled the magnum head, crane cam and cam gear, and sold them. That gave me just enough money to buy the old hi-comp motor I had before. I'm waiting for money to buy a timing belt, headgasket, an engine hoist, and 30lb fuel injectors. Here's what the last pics I took of the car were:

Image

Image

The plan is this: Do the headgasket and timing belt (since I learned the headgasket was leaking out the front of the block), get 30lb fuel injectors to run it on E85. I'm going to use my stock PCM for a this winter and maybe spring, hopefully next summer I can get a megasquirt for this so I can get a set of ITB's.

I also need to do a bushing kit, and finally lower the fucking car. I'm just going to get megan springs unless I sell something awesome and get money for coilovers.
