Oopsy :(

I just got back from here:

Doing this:

And my car looks like this:

A guy in a Jeep Cherokee backed into my car while I was parked at a gas pump. Obviously it was his fault, so his insurance is going to pay for everything. I already have an appointment to take it to a shop on Wed. so hopefully it will be all fixed up within a week or so. A new door skin should be all it needs. Still kind of a bummer though... the ski trip was awsome though!

Holy dirty wheels Batman! (I guess that's what you get from a week in the mountains)

That kinda sucks but at least it isn't too bad and it'll be paid for.

How's that do in the snow anyway?

 That's too funny. It looks almost exactly like the door on the RAV4. Did you see that before I got it fixed? Anyway, hopefully the shop down there can match the paint ok....it might be tough because that yellow is a respray already.

Looks like skiing was sweet...I'm sad now. :(

No, I don't think I saw the RAV. I think my door is bent far enough it'll need a new skin though, as opposed to just pushing out the dents.

I was just thinking about the paint too. Maybe they can just spray the whole car. The insurance probably wouldn't want to pay for that though. But it sure would be nice. :)

Those tires aren't horrible in the snow. They're not really great either though. They do pretty well in deep snow, and really wet snow. If it's icy or hardpack, they don't like to grip at all. I had to slip the clutch like mad to get going from a stop, otherwise it would just spin.

Oh, and at high altitude, the turbo would spool up super freaking fast. I had to retune to give it more fuel below 2k rpm becasue it would go into boost so fast.

Seriously? I had the opposite problem. Couldn't make full boost until like 4k. And that was just above Denver.

I'm glad that the damage isn't too bad. It still sucks, but i'd hate to see the car gone after all the work you've put into it.

Glad you had fun Skiing!

Yeah. You would think that makes more sense. With the thin air it would take more work to build positive pressure.

Maybe it just because my cylinder head flows so well, but I was getting boost crazy fast, and at very light engine load too. Down here in the flat lands I have to go almost WOT to get boost in first gear, but up at 8,000 feet I was going into boost just taking off from a stop.

man, that's wierd. that is completely opposite from what i would expect, even with your cylinder head flowing well...

I think your car started smoking crack. It makes absolutely no sense that it would spool better at high altitude. All things mechanical being the same, all you changed was the amount of O2 molecules per unit of atmostphere. And the O2 went DOWN. So it makes no sense. See, I just reasoned it all out....and it makes no sense.

Get a quote that's as high as possible, and then use the extra to get a carbon fiber hood, or fix the front bumper. ;)

owie!

you know, take it to a dodge dealership and use them instead... the dealership will do everything the can to get it as much as possible... ;) They say a door can not be just sprayed, but the whole car to match it right.

I was thinking the same thing. It was starting to get a little dark out, but still. It's not like it's hard to spot a bright yellow car. The guy that hit me did have stuff piled up all the way to the roof in the back of his Jeep. So, he couldn't see out the rear-view mirror. He "said" he checked the side mirrors and didn't see anything.

I just got the quote for the repairs this evening. $1500 to fix it. So now I'm just waiting for the money to come in from the insurance company.

It's the only car I have. So... not really much of a choice. If I move out to Colorado I'm definitly getting a different car though. Something more truckish.

This is what I'm driving this week while my car is in the shop:

The seller backed out of the deal. I got all my money back from him, so I didn't get screwed or anything. It was just kind of annoying...

But he's keeping the bumblebee too....I'm trying to convince him he shouldn't ever sell it. It would make me sad. Only if he sold it to my dad or me would it be ok. :D
