245/45/17
Well, I got a killer deal on some SRT wheels. $250 with fresh tires.
Only one problem: they're 245/45/17s.
I do have SRT struts and 8mm spacers, and some of vitor's modified trailing arms. I might rent a fender roller too....and they don't seem terribly wide for 245s, more like some 225s I've seen, as has been said, not all tires are created equal. Do I have a snowball's chance in hell of fitting that much rubber in my wheelwells?

uhhh.. You have the Stock SRT wheels with 245/45 Tires on them??
If so that is extremely unsafe. The stock SRT wheels are only 6" Wide and that tire requires a rim width of at least 8".
My 235/45 on a 7.5" wide rim and a 40mm offset barely fit. But I refuse to use Spacers.

Agreed, those are way too wide for a 6" wheel. My 205's bulge a bit on my 15's, I cant imagine something almost 2" wider.

update: ironically the rear wheels fit just fine, but the front do not. This may be due to the fact that only the rear struts are from an SRT, and only the rear struts have spacers. It's ironic because everyone says the rears are the ones that rub. Oh, and the 245s appear to be about the same width as an average 225

Actually, I was just curious as to how many Millimetres were in an inch.OB wrote:I meant to say almost 2"Canada wrote:2 Inches?OB wrote:Agreed, those are way too wide for a 6" wheel. My 205's bulge a bit on my 15's, I cant imagine something 2" wider.

thats because when you put a 245 on a 6" rim it bows. As it the contact patch gets smaller becuase its being squished from the sides.anomalous0 wrote:update: ironically the rear wheels fit just fine, but the front do not. It isnt safe at all to run a 245 on a 6" wide rim
