Yea, snow sucks. I waited until just now to come to work out in the far west suburbs by DeKalb.

What color is your car? I can keep my eyes open.

You got to be careful out here...this snow was particularly nasty for driving. Sucks that you need a new bumper.

I hit a patch of ice a couple of days ago when it rained and froze and almost slid into a truck but I just hit the e brake and swung the rear to the other side.

What color is your car? I'll keep on the lookout around here.

My morning was a bit rough in my 04 SE trying to play plow in several areas. Lowered Neon and deep snow don't mix very well. OH well....

I noticed the same, and heard other people complain about this too.... snow plows were SCARCE.

Well, I guess there's no more money in the budget for sand, salt, and gasoline to drive plow trucks.

People had better get used to this .....

snow plows start with the main streets and highways
they don't do much plowing if its still snowing its a waste of time and our money

i do agree it takes too long to get to my neighborhood but oh well thats winter for yah

Yes! I live in east central Wisconsin and I heard on the news the other night that there wasn't enough of a budget left to plow and salt all the roads. Not only do I drive to work, but I drive all day at work and over the past week or two, I've been in some pretty hairy situations, because the roads haven't been either plowed or salted. I understand that our past few winters have been pretty mild and I know that affects the budget, but come on -- how the hell can you not have enough money to plow the roads? For the cry-eye, it's frickin' Wisconsin (and Illinois and Michigan)! That would be like the state of California saying the budget for fighting fires is no more!

;) ;) ;)

I agree with 03NeonSE, if you don't feel safe driving in the snow or if you physically can't drive in the snow (as has happened to me more than a few times over the course of my driving and working career), call your boss and tell him you'll either be late or won't be in at all. Back when I still lived at home with mom and dad, I had to drive about 30 miles to work, from the country to the city. One time I had to call into work, because I literally got my Dodge Omni stuck in my freakin' driveway. My boss was pissed and argued with me on the phone, but eventually realized I wasn't going to give in and he let it go -- until the next day when I was called into his office and reprimanded for the fact that I'd only been working there a couple of months and had already called in twice due to snow. He said, "Where I come from, if you put your car in the ditch, you call a cab and get yourself to work. Worry about your car when you get home." I was like, "So I'm supposed to pay for a cab to take me to and from work (who knows how much that might cost) and then pay for a tow truck to pull me out of the ditch (probably $50 at that time), so I can come to work for 7 bucks an hour?" Needless to say, I didn't stay at that job much longer after that...

Sucks to live outside of Indiana then...our plows are all over the place. Roads were cleared and salted by noon.

I know that INDOT trucks are out at least 1 hour before the storm hits and pre-salt / brine the roads. They plow through the whole storm with each driver plowing a certain stretch of road. Though that is how they do it up in the northern part of the state, though they get the largest part of the budget.
