few quick questions
few quick questions
1) i know a built in cross over allows me to send different sounds to each specific speaker and is great for controlling my sub so does it matter if it has sub control and not a built in crossover?
2)the d/a converter is it a real key item? most decks i have seen nly hace 1 bit, 24-Bit DAC, or 24-Bit Resolution - 1-BIT and i have read 24 is the best. but wat is aklll thay crap
3)EQ/DSP/crossover -....wtf lol 3 band paramedic 5 band paramedic 5 better? lol paramedic?
4) pwer max - now i know the more watts the better but i'm lookin at these new alpine decks at future shop and it says "45W x 4 Max (16W x 4 RMS)" and i dunno lol
i have been looking into some of the new xplodes but this jvc one also seems decent

As for speakers i have a few questions aswell
1) when i'm looking at frequency response do i want 2 numbers farther apart? from what i've read thats wat it sounds like.
2)now wat about size when it comesto my tweeter and mid-range, woofer etc?
3) wat about the style and material??

Just a tip, when looking at wattage rating, always refer to RMS and not MAX. 24 Bit DAC is nice but useless unless its a DVD player as well as cd's are only 16 bit. As far as a crossover is concerned, that is more of an amp thing rather then a headunit thing, the "sub control" probably is an active crossover. You do need an amp to power a subwoofer FYI, you can not run one from a deck. Stay away from Sony XPLOD! Cheap pioneer and jensens sound better then that shit. XPLODS are comparable to Roadmaster in my opinion.

ok idk about JVC iv never owned one. Like atom said look at the RMS rating since thats the constant power output. pre-outs are only good if your guna be running amps, and the higher the voltage from them the better the sound will be. Stay away from Xplode components (speakers, subs, amps) iv heard nothing but crap from ppl that owned them. so stay away. i own a pioneer HU and i love it so id say go for it. The EQ lets you tune the sound to how you want it. ( no shit).

Re: few quick questions
EQ, just run Winamp and play an mp3 and look at the EQ.. then youll know what thats all about.w0158981 wrote: 3)EQ/DSP/crossover -....wtf lol 3 band paramedic 5 band paramedic 5 better? lol paramedic?

EQ will control bass and treble, and depending on the number of bands the more control youll get out of it.. but too much is too much and youll just end up making it sound bad.. like a 10 band EQ is too much to mess around with and one setting will sound ok with one type of music and not another
frequency response, the greatest range is what youre looking for.. typically 20hz-20khz.is what you get. but average human ears wont hear that much of a range so its not a huge deal what you end up getting
the JVC radios are just as crappy as the sonys, the panasonics are overpriced garbage that are just as good as kenwoods. jvc and sony have the dirtiest output from 'well-known' brands, lesser known like roadmaster, jensen, dual, insignia are god awful with sound quality. the cheap pioneers (under $200) are ok for the price the best ive seen so far are the higher end pioneers, primiers, and all alpines. however to me the pioneers are better because the quality is comprable to the alpines in the past couple of years and they are alot easier to use.

this is an opinion, not a fact, and should be stated as so. i currently have a jvc kd-g820 and it sounds just as good as the pioneer premeir i have in my other vehicle and it is running solo to the stock speakers. once spring gets here and i install all the type-r speakers and the cadance amp it will sound even better.
just because you don't care for a particular brand does not mean the entire line of their product is bad.

this is not an opinion this is infact...... FACT
ive hooked up all sorts of radios to my handheld ocilloscope and have actually SEEN the sound wave that comes out. every JVC, SONY, KENWOOD, PANASONIC (and im including the new models and thier highest end stuff) ive tested have been par at best with producing clean waves. i havent tested the RF radios since they are hard to find, but ALPINES, PIONEER/PRIMIER, CLARION's produce an almost perfect reproduction with the exception of alpine producing a perfect reproduction. so im sorry if i hurt your feelings by saying JVC is crap because alot of people are hardcore JVC fans but unlike alot of people i actually have the proof to show that it is infact CRAP
if you dont believe me your more than welcome to buy a $160 velleman oscilloscope and play a sine wave and max out the volume and watch that radio clip away at the sine wave
a radio that outputs dirty or clips is a radio that is extremely difficult to PERFECTLY tune an amp to (which you can only do with a oscilloscope), as a result you will not get the most spl out of any system from small timers to complete competition setups the radio is the most important part of the setup... ALWAYS

again, your opinion. everyone is entitled to one. there is no way you have access to test every model of radio from any line. you don't like what you have seen from jvc and are obviously biased as a result. this does not mean every hu produced by jvc, or any other line, is crap. as anyone who is not into "tuner"-type cars and they will tell you that every neon is a piece of crap.
