sony amps they are both 800W dual channels. Would it be safe to hook up one to the front and one to the rear? model number is XM-1252GTR. just in case anyone was wondering.

The specs I found rate that amp at 125w x 2 @ 4ohms. So if you speakers can handle 125w or more then they will be fine to use for front and rear.

Sony amps are good amps.. why some would fry in two weeks could be installer error, overload, lots of reason and not just because "they are sony". Like Jasmomo said, if your speakers can handle 125W rms, then sure, why not? But do not hook em up to speakers that can not handle any more. You will end up replacing the speakers soon! That amp that jetas showed would also be a good amp, and like he said cheaper than two sony's... here is another good amp, rated lower, but less distortion, and higher signal to noise... and a $100 cheaper.

yup as jasmomo said, it the speakers you have say 125w RMS then the amp will work on them no problem. just dont turn the gain up to high on them to clip the signal, which would blow the speakers.

also if you plan on buying a 4ch amp, & cheaper site would be sonicelectronix.com

& to the OP wsup local bay area person..

2.5 years and still running strong for my 800w mono sony amp.
Never seen a blown sony amp come to think of it.
If its installed properly there shouldn't be any problems.

Sony USED to make good amps back in the day, now their entire car audio line is crap; subs, amps, head units, doesn't matter. You are very lucky to have one of their amps still working after 2 years, I personally know a lot of people that have had issues including me with all aspects of their car audio. I have personally owned two sony head units that the motors died in for the cd (all of sony's optical products had the same issue at the time) and probably 4-5 pairs of sony subwoofers that would either blow apart after a month or the vc's would fry, or the connections would come unsaudered. I am not joking. I have used various amplifiers for the subwoofers, all very reputable brands, like Alpine, Kenwood, etc. I NEVER pushed them over their RMS rating either (usually stayed within 50w of rms with them). Please do yourself a favor and do not support Sony, honestly I would buy DUAL over them.
