8.8:1 (on a DOHC, like 9.25 on the SOHC) forged pistons, coated skirts, oil ported. Standard eagle rods. ARP stuff.Kevin_GP wrote:Specs on internals?

Sweet, I thought eagle rods get bendy at high hp, do you still have those big goals or is that why you are implying that this isn't the only rebuild?esteinmaier wrote:8.8:1 (on a DOHC, like 9.25 on the SOHC) forged pistons, coated skirts, oil ported. Only 700 ??esteinmaier wrote:Eagle rates them to 900. I doubt I'll ever see that much. Probably just a hair over 700.
I know.... I should just go ahead and shoot for 4 figures, right? Nah. It's amazing how expensive parts are that can hang at that level.NickKo wrote:Amen.esteinmaier wrote:I haven't ever heard of a failure that's not related to nitrous, bad tuning, or bad engine assembly. You get too crazy, and then you have to machine your own block, and a solid block like that can't dissipate heat like one full of coolant passages, so it's only good for 1/4 mile at a time, and then you're stuck with methanol only, as any other fuel would detonate, which then creates all kinds of other fuel system engineering concerns, and then you have to figure out how to keep cylinder pressures that are that high from blowing the head gasket out, and having a turbo big enough to make that kind of power doesn't spool until near stock redline, so you have to rev it thousands higher to be able to use the power to create enough exhaust volume to spin it up, which means all the difficulties of building a head that won't blow itself up over 10k RPM. Then there's drivetrain. Nothing stock will hold together WOT shifting at 1400ft/lb. OK, /rant. 700 is enough for a car that can't put the traction down on the street anyway.

Well, that's still not as bad as "Chipdogg" on "The.Org".... he's on MTX # 5, isn't he ??esteinmaier wrote:You mean blow a 4th transmission, 3rd clutch or 6th driver's side axle?
