Nope, not at all. They light up red (and very brightly at that) and that is all that is needed for VA inspections.Ntyvirus1 wrote:looks good, do u get alot of crap for the clear tails?

Yep. The car started with the stock 185/65/15s, I switched to 205/60/15s, then I put on the SRT wheels with 205/50/17s, and now these.Tam wrote:Sorry if I wasn't following the log, but you've had skinnier tires before?

I have to get the alignment redone after I do the front wheel bearings. In theory there is 1.5 neg camber up front now. Doesn't look like it though
The front will be comming down thou.
I'm still tossing around ideas about the brakes. It will either be SRT or a Wilwood kit. Either way they can't be bigger than stock SRT size since both the stock SRT wheels and the SRT ACR wheels have to clear them.
Oops...did I say that out loud?

Holy effing wheels Batman!!! They look so good! I had no idea you had this up your sleeve, you devil! Lower it s'more, take some pix, then put ur damn winter wheels back on! PS - that Wilwood BBK won't be able to clear your snowflakes. I don't know if that's an issue for you or not, but that's how I ended up with Matt's wheels.
Also, Any chance you'll be in/near Pittsburgh before July? Just curious about that thing that I need that you have that I'm gonna buy, yanno?
If not I can wait. I have plenty of other stuff that I need to waste money on too.

haha not exactly. damn, you're whoring that thing up wherever you go aren't you?? It's a solid piece, I'll give ya that, but I need a few other more pressing things before I spend money on STBs. That's down the line. /off topic.
Also, I didn't realize those were 18s
Chtear is now baller status I think

Dante, you bitch. Why do you get all the awesome shit? SRT ACR wheels are actually coming to me. Thanks for holding on to them for me!
Edit
John,
Since I'm completely unaware as to whether you've attempted this mod or not, I'm simply going to post it. I recently removed my hood latch, extended the slots that it's bolted with, and put it back on, a little over 1/2" lower than usual. The grille still fits fine, hood latches solid, AND there is less than a 1/4" gap between the hood and bumper now. It's much closer to being flush with the headlights than I imagined, and still lines up with the fenders and cowl just fine. This is by no means a suggestion, but rather some "food for thought" if you will. I know I'm one of the *few* with almost zero hood gap with an 02 front end and SRT hood (I also have crap projector lights with horrible gaskets). Regardless of whether you use this info or not, I feel better having posted. Wonderful car you've got, and I look forward to future modification.

el. oh. el.
Sorry for the late replies, I was in Ohio this weekend (sorry Dan...no free time for a meet
)
Ryan- Thank you for the complements. Chtear likes the baller label
I won't be using the snowflakes anymore since the SRT wheels will be doing winter duty now, so the brake upgrade is finally doable for me. I think I will be visiting your area before July, so I can hook you up withthatthingthatIcan'trememberatm. If it's the part I'm thinking of, then no problem
Adam- I know, I is teh bitch
And thank you for the info on the hood latch mod. I haven't even tried to bring the hood down to be honest. As it sits now the front portion of the hood sit slightly under the height of the fenders. The one pic I took really does show off the gap pretty bad, but from car level or higher it looks OK (see my sig). Your suggestion has but a bug bin my brain though, so I will mess with it a bit. Thanks for making more work for me

hm didnt know that lolDanteneon wrote:It's OK Dan. Not everyone likes the clear tails. I like them for two reasons. One, because they work well with the white car IMO, and two because those were the lights that were on the original SRT prototype.

Funny you should say that. I had the idea at Carlisle that my next project would be to create the prototype (at least in apearance). I have another set of these tails, and I know where the muffler is at. The hardest part (besides the supercharger of course) would be the seats and ground effects.
This would be done on another car though. Not Chtear.
