2008 - The makeover! Last rebuild! *UPDATED 4/4*

Post by mztykal » Wed Feb 06, 2008 9:51 pm

...so after my car was done being painted white, a huge storm hit my house and a metal shack fell on my car. So now begins the fun task of fixing all the damage to the roof and sides and redoing the exterior of the car.

This is gonna be the last rebuild of my Neon before I get another car so I'm going to try to document this to the best of my abilities. This build-up shouldn't take longer than 2 months as I've got most of the parts already. :)

Day 1

(sorry no before pics, only had 3 days to do the roof)

Roof had huge dents and scratches from the metal bars. Pounded out all the dents and sanded down all the scratches and covered it in a nice coat of PPG base/clear. Championship White from Honda. :)

Image

(the dots on the roof are the metal circle rivet things on that tent showing sunlight through)

I'm guessing you're re-painting the car in that color...WOW that's an off-white compared to the roof rail next to it!

Whole car's getting done in Championship White. I'm a Honda boy, so I'm sticking to my roots. :)

Bought a 2000 parts car. Chasis is painted. Just gotta finish the doors, fenders, hood, weld up the new passenger fender.

Then the kit and installl the whole new suspension, etc. I'll be done in a week or two. :)

I agree...this is a project log...meaning you take pictures as your progress has progressed!

I'd post pics but who wants pics of trunk lid carpet and injector cover and painted door jambs. LOL!

I'll post pics tomorrow after I have the car dropped off at my house. :)

Well the car still needs to be cut and buffed, then final polish and it should be even shiner than it is now. :)

Wheels might go, or get powdercoated. Not sure yet. Suspension is here, D2 coilovers with SRT front and rear sways with Energy Suspension endlinks. I've got Twistedklown urethane mounts coming in soon also. :)

I'll post updates again once more pieces are added on. :)

I like that color, reminds me of the Cool Vanilla on the 300s. For the wheels (if it were mine) I would do this: paint them a nice deep gunmetal or black, and leave the lip championship white.

Coming along nicely and +1 for PPG!! Which clear of theirs did you use?

K, so written update for now!

Finished up the exterior, except for the front bumper and lip. Got the side skirts, rear bumper, gas door painted and installed. Got the Energy Suspension endlinks in. Picked up a Alpine in-dash dvd player. Got that all wired up and installed. Semi-stripped the interior to prep it for rewiring the audio system. Gonna run all new stuff along with my TC Sounds sub. :)

So I'll have semi updated pics by the end of this week. Completed pics by next week I hope! :)

Color shifted on my paint so some panels aren't matching. Well the doors don't match the rest of the car. Which is weird as all the paint came from the same gallon. Oh well, car will get repainted upon first dent. :)

Oh yah, coilovers went on along with endlinks and new rear sway. :)
