Post by bumpinneon20 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 1:37 pm

will i be able to use the original ignition key with the steering column once I do the swap or will I have to swap steering columns out of the donor car and have separate door and ignition keys?

easiest way is to reprogram your ecu match what you already have in the car have a friend bring the tool to your house or have the car taken to a dodge dealership and have them reprogram the ecu

Agreed, that is one of the easiest ways if you don't mind paying to have the car towed, or if you know someone that can bring the DRB to your house. Doing it that way is about the best way if you can't source the SKIM and Keys from the car your PCM came from.

If you can get your hands on the SKIM and key cylinders from the SRT the PCM came out of then the easiest and probably cheapest way is to swap the SKIM and key cylinders over. No need to tow the car to the dealer, no need to possibly pay the dealer to flash the PCM and no need to convince them to do it in the first place since they might give you a blank stare trying to figure out what you're talking about like they did with me when I explained what I did to my car

If you have the SKIM, key cylinder and keys that match the PCM (meaning, came from the same SRT the PCM came from) then all you have to do is swap that over to your car and it'll start right up. You don't have to swap the entire column over though.

Also, to get around having 2 seperate keys, if you can also get a hold of the trunk and door lock key cylinders you can swap those over as well so all the locks on the car match. Thats what I ended up doing...
