Good trade or not?

Post by Xtian » Fri Feb 08, 2008 12:01 am

Here is the thing.
I can trade a '03 SXT / clean title / stickshift :( / 60K miles
for my current
'99 accord / salvage / auto / 88K miles / 2.4 V-tec

what do you think?

If the Accord was not salvage, i would have asked you to stick with it......

how much are you paying? ( i assume you are paying, right?)

How is the condition of the accord ?

make sure the neon does not need a new clutch also before you buy it.........

if it is going to cost you a lot of money, and your car is in good shape, stick with your car, and mod it.......the millage on both cars is close.....and the Honda holds up better age-wise in my expereince..

Manual Neons are VERY forgiving. I'm sure you could get it. Plus, you're young too... it would be a great time to learn stick. Even if this ended up being the only car you ever own with a manual, it's definitely a good thing to know.

My first car was an automatic. That *will* be the only automatic I own. Hell, my project car used to be automatic, and now it's not

Aww c'mon not this debate again... Are you scared to learn stick or something? lol ;)

Just a general inquiry... why on a neon site of all places would you ask if a good trade would be to trade a a clean title stick neon for a salvage title Honda accord that is an auto.... I mean if you have a neon and your on a neon enthusiast site, of course a lot of ppl are gonna say "hey pick the neon" I mean hell whats the 15min - 1hr it'll take to drive a stick. :-k c'mon man get your mind right! lol

just my .02 cents

Okay.
First, I am not fan of Hondas, especially the ones that look like a grandma car.
I am a teenager and I love good looking sporty type cars --- Neons.
I know that the Honda's engines last longer and they could be better but hey who knows that 100%.
Even the newest Honda or Neon could cause trouble.
I just had 3 Neons and I am used to them. I know everything about Neons. Every time when I see a Neon I am like "Why the hell I sold mine" :banghead:
Yeah I am scared to learn to drive a mtx, because as some of you already mentioned, maybe the clutch has to be replaced or I just can't make it to my house, cause I can't shift gears. Which is going to be kind of awkward.
But thanks for you opinion !!! I will stick with the Neon for now.

Good call  MTX FTW
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Are they more refined engines, yes. Do they last longer than any domestic engine, no. I've seen many a domestic engine with ridiculous milage on it on par, often bettering even the highest milage honda's.

Stick with the domestics, cheaper to fix, cheaper to buy parts for, typically easier to work on. Less refined vehicles, but cheap as hell to run and maintain.

How to fix your car:
1. Buy a Haynes manual
2. Read Haynes maual
3. Read and search appropriate threads, trust us, it's been covered before
4. Fix car
5. Consume beer of job well done

This isn't the matrix. We weren't born with talents already embeded into our brains.

Everyone has to learn to do something for the first time.

And now is that time
