205/55/15 - stock ACR wheels

Post by 2001 ACR » Fri Feb 08, 2008 10:28 am

Dumb question, The stock tire size for my ACR is 185/60/R15's. Can I get 205/55/15's w/o running into problems? Is there anyway to get a 215 on my stock wheels? Thanks.

Remember, there are no dumb questions, just dumb people

Just kidding man :) You can run 205 55 R15's no problem. I am running 205 60 R15's for winter on my ACR. On a stock wheel, I would not go wider than 205 however. The wheel is only 6" wide, so I wouldn't put a 215 on it.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Is there much of a difference between the 205/55/15's and the 205/60/15's?

Not much, the 205 60's are taller. Remember, the 205 is the width in mm's, the 55 or 60 is the height in % of the width (55%, 60% etc.)

Go with 205/55/15, it will not mess with your MPH at all.

at 70 mph, the actual speed is only +0.41 off. :) With the other size 205/60/15 it is +2.79 off.

you can technically fit 215's but its pushing it, I know people do it on OEM SRT-4 wheels and their 6" wide. I just got some 205/50/15 and they do great.
Although probably would have hella fender gap if your at stock ride height, in that case 55 and 60 look better
