Rant - Airforce Rant
So... you know what I hate?
When someone who is not military.... chimes in and gives advice bout the military.
People saying chair force is the easiest and most cushion out of them all...
I know the Air Force use to just deploy to cake places for like 3 months at a time and never leave the base...but in the 4 years Ive been in so far it's changed a lot.
The Air Force is turning into a more combat orientated branch. If you can't goto war...you're not going to be in.
Hell, they are starting to give dummy rifles in the 1st week of basic rather than the binder with study guides (that I got when I first went)
Point is... it may not be the marines... but we do our part.
I'm going to be gone for 8 months (yes I know Army goes for 14+) I am going to see combat and I am going to see shit no one wants to see.
I sure wish I was in this "Chair Force" everyone speaks of.
[/rant]
There we go... I am off the soap box.

Just wait until basic switches to the 8 week program...glad I went through before that changed...Did you get the blue smurfs in the third week or was it different when you went through? I'm pretty excited to deploy, I think it's gonna give me a lot of confidence and help me learn my job quicker...Though I won't be seeing as much of the combat side of things, one of the benefits of being a flyer, and I'll only be gone for 4 months. Either way, stay safe wherever you're going!
I say anyone in the military deserves respect. They are putting their lives on the line no matter if they are sitting in the US or deployed. No matter what branch you are in it is still demanding.
I know Marines get picked on for being dumb but it just comes with the territory. I'm half way to my commission in the Marines and I hear all kinds of stuff when I wear my uniform around campus.

I was the commander of my AFJROTC unit in high school so I have the utmost respect for anyone who serves our country.
I already have 3 friends in the sandbox who i haven't heard from since they have deployed in fall 07.
Hopefully you can find a person crewing a C-17 that will get you a six pack every so often.
I wish you luck on your deployment.

The jabs and poking fun between all the branches of the military, might be OK, but if you're not in/or served in any of them, then STFU. I have not served in the military, but you still have my respect and thanks.

Probably shouldn't listen to anything your penis says, that guy's a dick.
Too much time spent here is a sign of a bad case of Ownaneonvirus.Patience, of course, is a very powerful weapon, but sometimes I start to regret that it is not a firearm.

Ya that's my biggest thing... I poke fun at other branches... but they poke right back. It's humorous...
But an outsider looking in and talking smack... pisses me off.
btw: I made the rant on a bad day....
Lifes good.... Just spending time with the wife and friends... it's been kind of tough on us.
I have my good days and bad... it kinda takes a toll on the wife. She puts up with it very good but she can only take so much of my shit... lol we'll be good tho

Kudos to you man, anyone in the military has my utmost respect. I also had a friend from high school who finished training to be a cryptologist for the Air Force.
Does anyone know if NAVY OCS sounds good? I've been thinking about it real hard. I'm starting to hate my current job.

^ Marine OCS is more fun
A 10 week course followed by 6 months at the Basic School.
Navy can be good... but what do you want out of the military? The Air Force is a great way to go and origionally was my first choice but I decided to go Marines because they fit my lifestyle more and I can still fly jets.
John - That is the best thing about the Marines, the unifroms. And you have one hell of a wife by the way. Most of the girls I know wouldn't be able to put up with a military guy.

My current job is ok but also hating it but I'm dying to see the world out there too and I figured maybe if I go Navy or some branch in the military, they could do just that.
I don't think I'd get in the Air force though. I have an average gpa out of college and I don't think it's qualified enough to get into OCS over there...

Find your nearest Officer Selection Office and make an appointment. They can give you the low down on everything you could ever want to know.
If you go Navy you will get to go to some really cool ports around the world, but you are stuck on a boat most of the time.

Air Force! I did 28 years, 12 Active Duty, 1 year as a traditional Reservist, and 15 years as an Air Reserve Techncian (full time Civil Service and Reservist in the same position). I was activated in both Gulf Wars. I wouldn't take any other branch over the Air Force based on my own experiences. Salutes to all who have, and still serve. (Firefighter for four years, Avionics Technican/Flying Crewchief the rest)

Low n Slow I gotta give you and anybody else who is currently or has been enlisted in any branch of the military the utmost respect. Especially the wives of those enlisted. My uncle is a retired Sergeant Major in the Marines and seeing what my aunt had to go through during the times when he was deployed to different parts of the world really made me thankful every time he came home safe. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

When I was in the CG, we were told whenever we failed something, usually a test of mental challange, that the retards could switch over to the airforce and make space in the coast guard for somebody with a decent IQ....
not saying its true. just saying that not only do civilians think badly of the air force. the other branches do nothing to stop the bad publicity.

Nothing makes people doubt the american education system like seeing a psycho driving a customized dodge neon.
