So Saturday I took the car down for the show. Wasn't a big turnout as far as the newer cars went. There was a total of 6 in the group: a VW baha bug, VW camper van, 03 prelude, 96 civic hatch, an acura integra and me. If you're reading this and thinking "aren't those all imports?" then you're dead on. The coordinator moved me from modded car to import so that I wouldn't have to go against all the muscle cars. So in my class of six they took the top three (no rankings) and it was actually pretty fun if you ignore the horrible sunburn I got.

I was in the top three so received this:

Pretty cool, the high school kids made it in woodworking class.

The show was good but there was this little custom shop from another town that insisted on bashing everyone's cars and random attendees. Just behaved horribly for someone that is surrounded by potential clients. The owner even mocked the plaques the kids made up saying "I've got a new cutting board" and my personal favorite "Looks like she's put on a couple Pounds" since my married name is Pound and he had to be a jackass while I was walking up to get my plaque.

Anyway, just thought I'd share with anyone that was interested in how it went.

Yeah it was pretty small. 6 in 'imports, 3-4 each in 4x4 and modded trucks and probably 30+ in the modded car section - mainly older camaros and mustangs. The two vipers and ferrarris were there and they drew a lot of attention.

That bug was crazy though, a lot of the motor was chrome, custom paint inside/outside and recovered seats that reminded me of those designer purses everybody has. The white civic really wasn't to my taste but apparently his girlfriend owns the lowered 04 silver neon with the black handles and door trims. Guess its in hiding right now because the entire side of the car has the clear peeling like crazy. They were pretty friendly and I made sure to give her the 2gn site although I forgot the business cards darn it. :banghead:

Your baby looks great basking in the sunshine, a little out of place with those imports.

David- Thanks for the compliment! :) I thought she looked good that day too but I am a little biased. lol.

Teej- I haven't seen her car in two years but that sounds about right. I was gone from Kfalls for a year and haven't seen it around town since I got back last July. Guess she wants to repaint it because of the clear and put the srt parts on it. I'm kicking myself for not telling her about the mopar kit since its so cheap right now. As it is I've got the silver sides in my garage collecting dust.

So I had a pretty eventful weekend, we went down to California and hit a pick-n-pull while we were there. This is some of what I brought home:
Image
Lit visors
Rearview mirror with map lights
multifunction switch
chrome door handles
imitation cf shifter bezel
electronic trunk latch/popper w/glovebox button
light for above bottom cubby in dash

I also picked up two more trunk carpets making this a total of 5. I've got one in my Neon and one in my sister in law's Neon and the rest are sitting in the garage. Will probably sell one or two of them eventually but right now they're gonna collect dust. Same goes with the shifter bezel - the HVAC trim was missing from the car (along with most of the dash) so there is no real point in installing it.

Most of the stuff came off a flame red 00 or 01 se. The thing was in pretty good shape; had foglights, leather atx shifter knob, even had the adjustable headrests (there were two cars with them) but I didn't want to have mismatched seats plus thats just nasty after being out there for who knows how long. It also had a sunroof  that made me wish I had the proper tools to tear the roof off and graft it onto mine (not that simple I know but my husband could do the body work and have it perfect). Wish I could go back for it but 5hrs is a long drive on a long-shot. :(

I got new LEDs in a few days ago and the sidemarker wiring came in today from Trinity so it looks like I'm going to have to spend an entire weekend tearing the car apart and seeing what I could get done. Can't wait. I think I made out better on this trip compared to my husband -I got a bunch of cool parts and he struck out at all 3 pick-n-pulls for any of his cars.

 On the outrageous finds. Looks like someone is going to have a busy weekend. I hope it all turns out the way you want. But if by chance you don't end up using the electronic trunk latch/popper w/ glovebox button........ I know someone who could use it ..... well at least the button, as mine (oops, let the cat out of the bag) didn't come with that. :banghead:

I already have a button (got one last time I was in Sacramento) and I think we grabbed the latch and a second button this time. I'll look and if I have two buttons I'll send one your way. :) Only have one latch though, sorry.

That would be great, if it all pans out. I checked w/ Danteneon (John) and he said that since I already have an electric trunk release latch, the button that goes in the glove box should work just fine. O.K. silly question I know but I have to ask..... Does the button hook into a wire harness somewhere or what? Forgive my ignorance as I have never seen one of these mythical buttons, I have only heard of them. Also if by chance you do find yourself with a surplus, I would be more than happy to pay for all your hard work + part + shipping.

Not sure if the harness is there or not David. If it is, it will be taped back onto the dash harness in that area. Same with the latch wiring. Chances are if the trunk wiring is there then the switch probably will be too
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I've got two buttons so if you still want it you can pm me your address I'll get it in the mail in tomorrow or Saturday at the latest. No worries about money, I got the button for free and it woudn't be anything to throw it in a bubble envelope and put it in the mail.

Your baby looks great being lowered! It's amazing what a little drop will do for our Neons. From your sig I thought you were already sitting lower than stock. Now if I could only get my new Tokico HP struts in, I'll be putting on the H&R springs that are just sitting in my garage. Hopefully by next month I'll be riding low as well.

How is your tranny doing now? Hopefully all is well.

Pics came out great.
