you are turning the bolt in the right direction I hope....you can try using a breaker bar that way you can get more power behind it. But be careful not to break the bolt.

I had the same problem once on my other neon, a 2000 es. Anyway it was stripped thats why I had a problem getting it off. So I ended up taking it off anyway I could then went to AutoZone and bought another one for like 3-4bucks so dont worry about breaking it... Just get the dam thing off! lol, Or you can check you local parts store make sure they have it first... just my 2cents

As for price I've seen them at wholesale prices for like 5-10$$ see if this picture works:

find a long hollow metal bar put it around the socket wrench and use the bar to loosen the nut.

find any bar thats going to give you leverage.

Im sure sombody probably crossthreaded it back in...now your gonna have to really pry it off.

And if you can't find a big bar, just take a wrech, and couple it over the end of another wrench to make it longer. works everytime

Yeah, just to add to this. I had this problem a lont time ago with my 2000. I actually just went to AutoZone and bought a new one (as stated above), and then the next time I went to get an Oil Change I had the guys there replace it. No biggie.

yep i bet someone fucked up in your past oil change.

That bolt isnt usually tight, its in constant contact with oil afterall.

Or put a wrench on it and hit it with a hammer. Usually enough force to knock it free.
