Mother Fu**&$@*&@$*!!!!

Post by glasswars » Thu Feb 21, 2008 11:31 am

Why is it that everytime I try to do something new to my car I end up messing something up with the car only to make my car ghetto as shit?

I got some stock speakers from Izero to replace my shitty ones... I tried taking off the door panel I got it off past the screws and pulling out the wires, but after that I am friggen clueless. How the hell do I get those metal rods for the door handle off?

I searched the boards for a way but nothing was that understandable.

To top it off I knocked off the LED for the window switch off the motor.

And to top THAT off when I got everything back together my passenger side window switch doesn't even work!!! The harness is plugged in, I don't get what the deal is?

How the F do I take off those metal rods, and any ideas for the window switch?

damn man, another one that doesnt have a haynes manual. anyways, to detach any of the control rods, unsnap the clip from the rod, then pull the rod out of the lever.

you may have to use a screwdriver to pry at the plastic a bit to get it to slide to the side then the rod just lifts out ...

as for the window .. sounds like something is either still loose ... or missing ..

when you say you knocked off the LED ... go into more detail... did the switch come apart? ... if so you lost two metal pins inside of it that actually operate the switch.

Nothing came apart... the LED was sticking up like a sore thumb, and I hit it off... it's weird.. the switch has complete play to move up and down, theres no tension on it.

The LED might have been inline with power to the switch? I'm not really sure, never looked at the thing.

Dear fellow Neonite,
Don't feel bad. You are not an idiot.

You are merely a butthead.

This is EXACTLY why I like going to the JUNKYARD first and "experimenting" there, before I do the real thing on mine !!

Maybe you need to make a trip to a local "U-pull-It" type of yard, so you can replace some of the parts that may be damaged if they need it ??

hmmm never seen the LED sticking up before ... sounds like something is wrong with that switch ... does it have the same 'resistance' when you move it .. like on the other side? or does it feel looser? ... if it feels looser then the body may have came loose while you were trying to unplug it .. which would make the pins inside the switch fall out of place and not make contact with the actual switch mech' inside it .. (the top part of the switch snaps off ... to show a rocker type center with a metal pin on each side going down into the housing) ...

Ya you more than likely lost the little pins that go up inside the toggle switch, I know i did the same thing to my passenger side window switch wilst doing my speakers, the window still works on mine, as long as you use the passenger side control on the drivers door, but ya the switch on the passenger door is loose with no tension on it. One of my missions once spring hits is to locate those pins.

the metal rods snap into the plastic parts that they connect to the handle with. one snaps in from the bottom and the other snaps in from the side. with a little prying in the right area they will pop right out. it is hard to explain exactly how to do it, but i hope this helps explain it a little bit...

are you sure you didn't pop the switch apart? it sounds like you lost the little metal "tensioner" type deal that makes it snap back to the center position after it is moved either way.

did the same thing, with my drivers side, and took me 2hours combing a gravel driveway with a magnet to find them...

Wow by some stroke of luck I ended up finding the pins on my garage floor. So is my switch saved?

if you found the pins ... pull the entire switch out .. then pop the rocker off the top and you will see where they go .. and the rocker snaps back on
