my car cut out

i have an 02 base atx. all of a sudden my car cut out and when i went to put it in park it started back up ..what could the problem be?

I had a similar problem with my 00 ATX. It would idle really rough when I stopped and almost die on me. I took the IAC valve off of the throttle body and cleaned it with degreaser. No more idle problems. It has a little pin that raises up at idle to allow a little more air for the engine to idle. When you take off it closes. That pin will get nasty over the years.
