3sp auto question

Post by -Devil- » Sat Feb 23, 2008 11:24 pm

this is for my 95 neon .. but the tranny is the same IIRC ...

the car has about 140k miles on it .. and most of em have been hard as hell ...

after driving it today to make sure the new alt and such is working .. i noticed sometimes .. when going from 2nd to 3rd ... the motor will rev up for a bit more before it finally shifts into 3rd ...

it has been around 40k since it was last serviced (fluid / filter) ... so i already plan on doing that ... but is there anything else i should look for ? ... or things to adjust to help with this? ...

i prefer a manual tranny .. but this is the car my wife drives ... so heh ... she is hell on clutches ... so it stays auto ...

you mean it climbs to a higher than normal rpm before shifting?, or it surges higher WHILE shifting? when you change the fluid/filter adjust your bands in there, you could also play around with the kickdown linkage adjustment.. described HERE (alt+w) but that is for adjusting it to do what yours does now, but could play around with the settings when you do your fluid service.
