Post by crashpaq » Sun Feb 24, 2008 4:56 pm

I just put a set of ICW 18" wheels on my 2000 ES, they are 18x 7.5 i have 215/35/18. when i make a left turn i hear a popping coming from the passenger rear of the car. Any idea what this could be. Oh yea the ofset is 42

Is ur lugs tight enough? i had that happen to me after the tire shop put on my 18's,they didnt tighten the lugs enough and by the time i got home i was noticing a popping sound from my rear and sure enough three lugs were on only finger tight,so i would start there

also... the larger rim could be putting stress on the ball joint and causing it to pop.

There is no ball joint in the rear of the car ;-) lol Do the wheels have hubcentric rings installed? Feel any vibration at highway speeds?

It's a ring that goes on the inner most part of the wheel on the inside where the hub of the wheel is. What it does is keep the wheel centered around the hub to help eliminate any shaking due to the wheel not being centered properly. Stock wheels are made to spec to fit over the hub without any ring but since aftermarket wheel manufactures don't make wheels specific to each car they made the hub areas on the wheels a little larger to accomodate different size hubs on all different cars. Then you use the hubcentric rings to fill that gap and make it a tight fit so the wheel is center over the hub.
