biggest tire possible

Post by slaw » Tue Feb 26, 2008 4:29 pm

ok so i have these rims i bought on the forum, and im running 215/45/17 for tires, and i have stock sxt stuts and springs, and i really dont want to lower the car much to avoid scraping on my body kit, so my question is, what is the biggest tire i can run on a 17" wheel, on stock suspension, and will putting a thicker tire on make the wheel gap look less silly
also what are the losses/gains from swaping to an srt4 suspension set up (either just springs or both springs and stuts)

right now you have on the biggest tire!!! im suprised you dont rub a little bit right now... 215/40/17 is what i run and im really really close to the perch... if you go any bigger on a 17" wheel you will want to upgrade to srt struts and springs... you might drop about 1/2" too

The SRT suspension will give you more clearance at the strut perch, allowing a taller overall tire. Keep in mind, a tire that is taller will raise your car's ride height, and probably do very little to improve the look of the stock wheel gap. SRT struts with slightly lowered springs would probably be your best bet for total clearance and a decent looking drop. Try to stay as close to the stock overall tire height for whatever suspension you have.

185/60/15 (Stock) overall height: 23.740"

205/50/17 (SRT) overall height: 25.071"
