so my front passenger side speaker sounds like it rattles when i get bass, so i've been told its blown:( i thought it was loose but what i've read its blown which sucks but i love my music so i guess it has to be replaced just wondering whats a decenty system i can run without killing my wallet been doing the ebay search looking at some pioneers and alpines, 6.5's so i'm hoping to save my money as i would love to get a sub and not replace my 6x9's, anyway just wondering if i do the ebay thing what kind of costs i'm going to be looking at for some 6.5's and a sub and everything i need for them, i'm running a deck its a pioneer deh-p3900mp anyway i know alot of you guiys rock at this stuff so i'm juss curious thanks also i would need something that would last and be able to pound, i was also hoping not to take up my whole trunk so would a ten be better?

You tell us how much you want to spend and we will help you find a kick ass system for your money. Also do you want to power the speakers with your deck or do you want to add an amp. Do you want a component set or 2-way or 3-way speaker, all different ways you can go with this just need to know your budget.

hey i'm not really set on a price i'm not looking to spend hundreds on it a couple hundred cheap as possible but still getting a good band for my buck i was thinking of getting a 4 way amp that way i could connect it to my sub and then my 6.5 in the front, i'm not replacing 6x9's because from what i'm told its not a huge neccesity really, anyway as for the 6.5's i don't really want components just because i don't want to have to drill holes for the tweeters and what not so i guess a decent 3 way as for the sub i want it to pound but not take up all my trunk as i do use it, i herd alpine type r's are nice subs i herd my buddys and it my stomach kringle it was amazing lol anyway i hope thats a little clarification i'm still new to this anyway if you guys wanna change any of my ideas as you think this would be better like amp wise or whatever or subs or whoever then yea drop me some ideas thanks!

some diamond audio 6.5's will sound real nice 110 bucks

compontnets are the way to go....there will be no drilling needed.w0158981 wrote:hey i'm not really set on a price i'm not looking to spend hundreds on it a couple hundred cheap as possible but still getting a good band for my buck i was thinking of getting a 4 way amp that way i could connect it to my sub and then my 6.5 in the front, i'm not replacing 6x9's because from what i'm told its not a huge neccesity really, anyway as for the 6.5's i don't really want components just because i don't want to have to drill holes for the tweeters and what not so i guess a decent 3 way as for the sub i want it to pound but not take up all my trunk as i do use it, i herd alpine type r's are nice subs i herd my buddys and it my stomach kringle it was amazing lol anyway i hope thats a little clarification i'm still new to this anyway if you guys wanna change any of my ideas as you think this would be better like amp wise or whatever or subs or whoever then yea drop me some ideas thanks!
you just take out the stock tweeters and then put them there.
the only hard part is finding a good spot for the box...i have mine just under the dash where your feet go off to the side.
you will be happy that you got those from the sound quality

dont even pay attention to max watts, pay attention to RMS only..
you want the sub to match the amp at least, if not have the amp push a little more than the sub. if you underpower the sub it will try and pull too much through the amp and kill the amp quicker, if you overpower the sub, you could blow the sub, these other guys are killer with audio, i know basics,,,,
if your talking dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm single subs which i think you are you, the dual 4ohm can be wired as a single 2ohm or 8ohm sub, or you can wire each coil to its own 4ohm channel on an amp (just like 2 subs which is basically what it is). this is what i have a single 10inch 4ohm DVC wired each coil to its own 4ohm channel on a 2 channel amp.
if you wire it up to be 2ohm, it will push more power, more watts, make sure though the sub can handle it, will say it in the specs, and make sure your AMP is 2ohm stable, or it wont last long..
most people wont wire it to 8ohms, unless they have say 2 of them wired where 8ohms and 8ohms wires down to 4ohms, or 4 of them where 8 8 8 8 = 4 4 = 2ohm you can add on and on, with ohms its either doubled or halved. halved gives more power..
now.. if you go with the dual 2ohm voice coil you can wire it as a single 4ohm sub, or a single 1ohm sub, but your gonna need nice amp to be 1ohm stable,... if you get 2 of them wire them as 2 4ohm speakers and get a 2 channel amp, ect.. im sure others can get more detailed info for you.. hope this helps, and doesnt confuse you..

sooo we just got a sound system for my comp and i realize i need a sub lol from what i've read this is what ithink would be the best
either of these:
1 alpine type r 12" 500 rms 1500 max
1 alpine type r 10" 500rms 1500 max
1 rockford P3S 12" 500rms 1500 max
i found a pretty cheap deal on a new amp 500rms 1200 max sony amp anyway i use my trunk so thats why i'm not getting 2 because i do use it sometimes, and i'm worried that 2 subs might need a rather large box for airspace
i still don't understand the difference in 10's and 12's but i'm still hunting haha thanks

Go with the type-r 12" dual 4-ohm for sure. You easily get away with pushing 800watts through it.
As far as the amp...if you want real accuracy and real power i wouldnt go with anything you can buy at best buy (unless they sell alpine, i cant recall). An alpine mrp-m850 would be great or for a little less money an mrp-m650 would still push it pretty nicely. I would try to look around on car audio forums to see if you can find a used amp and save some cash.
Most importantly whatever you do end up getting, make sure you have someone who knows what theyre doing set the gains and the highpass/lowpass filters so you dont blow anything.

ok sweet thanks for the help guys i'm going to go with a 1 12" i think and hopefully the smallest box i can put it in just so i can save room back there but that won't be till i snag an amp, i posted an add in the wtb section seeing if someone wants to part with one thats in good condition i'll snag it haha thanks again!

Im ordering an mrp-m1000 for it today. Tons of people told me R's can take a beating, so i think ill put it to the test. Worst comes to worst i'll blow it and get a type-xthe mrp-m850 would work also but its a bit much for them

Ohms are the resistance. Less resistance generally more electricity/power you can put out. Most people wire to 2-ohms, but people who are real serious go 1-ohm or even 1/2 ohm.
Like my tiny amp (soon to replaced) puts out 400w @ 2ohms but only 225w @ 4ohms. So it all depends on how you wire your subs and what ohm your amp is stable at.
I would go on yahoo and search for subwoofer wiring diagrams and theyll be tutorials that should better explain it.

FYI you might be able to fix that speaker. Mine stock speaker did that about a month ago so I pulled the speaker out, inspected the surround and cone to find the surround was ripped a few inches causing the rattle. Went to the store to pickup some black caulking and put a very thin bead where it was torn and smoothed it out so it's uniform... worked great and the speaker sounds fine
Just thought I'd share in case you didn't feel like dropping the money just yet on a system
