15" Kicker L7 box..will it fit?

Post by 1stgener » Sat Mar 01, 2008 10:36 am

I was wondering if you think I will have problems fitting this box into my trunk on my 01 Neon..
4.0FT^3@32Hz Dimensions (W x H x D): 33" x 16.5" x 21"
Any one else running 15" subs?

from what i remember, the trunk is 36" wide from wheel well to well, 24" high, 40 or 50 something deep, its also 42 or 46 wide at its widest point.

to get the proper airspace for 15's you only have enough room in the trunk for 1 15, if you make the whole trunk the box including the spare tire compartment you might be able to get enough airspace for 2 but even with that its cutting it short some.

when i had my 2 15's i just removed the bottom of the back seat and threw a box there, but that was when i was younger and in my 01 neon. now i gotta have the asthetics and the performance

go free air style pull down back seats and place a sheet of mdf with the two 15s facing forward. This will use the entire trunk as a box. I did this in my 95 neon with 2 15 \" Crystal Comps. When you haul stuff it made it pound even harder.

Any one ever hear of Fi BTL subs? Or DC sound labs. I think I want to go with something "non" mainstream and these subs are true spl beasts. The new DC audio level 5 subs has a 75 pound motor!...hmm wonder if a 18 will fit.. I know of a Neon with a wall and 2 18's behind his head and about 8,000 watts..Yeah, I know..im weird..

finally someone on here that likes to run non-mainstream subs such as me.

There is no way your going to fit enough airspace for a 18" in a neon trunk unless you go the wall route. But i say either get a 12" BTL fully loaded or a DC audio sub in a 2.5cft box. I had a RE Audio RE12 with 1500w in a 2.5cft box & it was pretty loud. it was a bitch to fit the box though, since it was oddly shapped.

u can fit a 4 cu box in there pretty easy, if i remember right u can only fit a box that's about 14.5" tall throu the trunk latch. I'm in the process of putting a fi btl 18 fully loaded into my neon for a sound comp on the 15th.

I'm also in the process of making a box for my JL 13tw5 for my acura :)

A bit hard to see in there, but I fit a 15" L7 comfortably in my '03 and could have had airspace for another as my enclosure cupped down into the spare tire well; wasn't much room left for my amp rack, but it ended up fitting at a nice 45 degree angle between the enclosure and the back of the car.

Sundown Saz 3000d @ .5 ohms

so roughly i'm giving the BTL something like 3700wrms at fully tilt.

a single 15 is what I would do for sure... oh wait I did. I run a DD9515 in my sx, I cut out the metal abit in the trunk behind the seat to fit more box through opening LOL... it 34"W 15.5"H and 25.5"D.
Sounds great in the car, but more for comps then nice daily listening.
