Want a louder horn, any suggestions?

Post by JJS66 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 12:33 pm

I've got a 2000 and the horn leaves much to be desired. Does anyone have a loud but legal replacement that they like?

Also, the manual I have says I need to remove the wiper fluid reservoir to get to the horn. It doesn't say how to do that anywhere but it looks like I need to remove the passenger side fender liner to get to it? If not how?

I don't have the manual handy, but I don't think you need to remove the fender, just the bumper cover. I've been thinking about getting a better sounding horn too, but that's kinda on the back burner considering I'm also working on an SRT swap.

If you want loud... an air horn is your best bet.

I need to repair a leak in the washer fluid reservoir as well. I was hoping to do the horn at the same time since the manual I have says the reservoir needs to come out to access the horn. I've seen others say the bumper cover needs to come off too but I wonder why the manual doesn't say this.

I had some horns called "Wicked Loud" on my other car but I found them to be less than wicked and less than loud. :) I might consider air horns but there doesn't seem like a lot of space to work with in that area on the Neon.

Don't know about a 2000 but on the 03 - 05, just remove the right headlight and the horn is right there.

I've seen people put their airhorns under the rear of the car near the exhaust. Theres more room on an SRT-4 due to there not being a muffler.
