i have already found out, they are quite flexable ... as they bend just with the brake being applied ...

but even if one does get damaged .. the other one is still more then enough to stop it ... less i am flying .. then thats a whole nother problem haha

about the only things i am considering changing on it .. is a less aggresive tire ...(but going to wear these out first) ... and better pedals

once i break these pedals i may be willing to give them a try ... depends on how long these last ... if they go soon i will just put some all metal ones on

no clue why they have plastic body pedals with just a peice of metal screwed around the outside edge .. but eh its a step up from the all plastic junk on some.

Funny you mention this. My parents just bought some bikes. Specialized I think, with all the works. I'm more into BMX stuff though myself.

Nice bike.
I used to race cross country, and did a lot of the park stuff on a mountain bike..
I owned a KHS alite 4000 with xtr drive train a while back as my racer.. It cost me 2500 grand used.. I also had a specialized P.1 as my play bike.. I gave up racing out of frustration.. I was suppose to go to nationals but broke my collar bone the day before, so I stopped racing.. I stopping bike all together when I got a girl friend.. Not that I was whipped, but between school, her, and everything else on the plate, I just didn't have time.

I still ride, although not as much as I would like/should

I have a Cannondale F500 that has been upgraded to all XT components (got to mod the bikes as well).

I worked at a pro shop back in the late '80's, and I have kept my hand in it since. If you have any questions, let me know.

Now get out there and ride!

I bought a Gary Fisher last year and the bike is amazing. Me and a few freinds have been trying to find some new trails around the OH area. It gets pretty intense...have u ever ridden a rock trail...scary stuff if its your first time. We also have an indoor mountain bike park in Cleveland.

A long time ago I bought a GT 3.0 Aggressor. Awesome bike for the price, although the seat is soooo uncomfortable on a longer ride. Great bike for trails and short rides but not good for a longer ride. I would suggest a GT to anyone, I love it.

i checked in on some clips for the pedals ... i may get a set put on soon ... along with a chainstay guard ...

about the only new complaint i have came up with .. is no type of guard on the outside of the front sproket ... so it is real easy to get pants or anything else caught up on a tooth.

:withstupid: that or a Velcro strap around your pants. Easy way to tell if a bike is a store bought casual or a hardcore machine is whether the guards are in place or not :D

heh thats what i have been doing since tearing a new pair of jeans lol

i don't mean the plastic crap that covers the front sprocket and top of the chain ... i mean the metal ring that some sprockets will have bolted to them, that sits out just enough to clear the chain .. and is the same height as the teeth.

Sounds like you are talking about a rock ring.

That would work while making your bike look tougher as well :)

I never did any trails or anything like that, but I have always had a mountain bike.

My current one is a WalMart special Mongoose. It has front disc brake, front and rear suspension and is pretty damn light for a cheapie, imo. 21 speeds. cost about $180 iirc. I have had it for a while and it has been sitting in my storage closet for the last year and a half. But I think it is going to get taken out soon. The place I work is having a biggest looser challange and the winner gets a grand so I figure its worth a shot.

I weighed in at 290lbs today. This was after lunch, so lunch didn't hurt me and its a good thing because I forgot to pack one :banghead:

This is a 3 month competition and I am figuring I will need to lose 12% to have a chance.

I rode BMX (dirt and street) for a long time but kinda fell out of it. Im currently looking at getting into a cheap road bike and going that route (actually planning a fixie conversion). Mountain Biking sounds hella fun...but its just too flat where I live to fully explore their potential. Good luck with the weight loss, getting in shape is hard to do but its one of the best investments you can make.

I have never gotten my pants caught in the chain or gears, ever.....
BUT they sure do get dirty after a while, from all the grease and lubricants on the chain.
