Post by dodge_girl » Fri Mar 07, 2008 11:10 pm

So i came to Ohio today with my family for a wedding and the weather got pretty crappy on the way here as im sure some of you know. But as we were driving on the highway i started to notice that there were a lot of cars in the ditch, so i started taking pics of them...

Haha, I play that game too! Now you can sympathize with us for what we have to deal with. :-) How was the wedding?

Ugh... people in snow. I hate snow, I don't mind driving in it when no one else is around but when you get other people on the road they're bound to screw something up causing more traffic problems because they aren't paying attention or going too fast for the conditions.

Earlier this year we got a little bit of snow down here, not even an inch and was gone by the end of the day. I got up a little early, took a shower, got out and saw I had a voicemail from my supervisor saying her and the other woman in the office (both born in the south) called our main office in Michigan to let our Manager know up there that we're all going to be late... so I didn't have to rush to work. Screw that, I'm not going to be late to work an hour, have to stay late an hour just because of them so I left for work anyway checking our driveway first to see if it was icey... nope, just fine, just wet with some snow cover. The roads were just fine as long as you took it slow like you should have and they even said they were on the radio. I left early to avoid any sort of traffic so there was no one on the roads but if I left when they were going to leave it would have taken longer since everyone else would be on the roads, not to mention they don't have plows down here or salt so the roads would be just as bad at that time as they would be going to work at the normal time. Either way, I was 30min early while the other two... hour late.

Sure enough though, that morning, on the way there one person in a truck went around a corner too fast and almost lost control... tard bar. :tardbang: It's not just down here though because "they not used to driving in snow..." it was the same way in Cincinnati where if there were just a few flakes on the ground people would freak out! Then there would be the ones trying to fly by everyone, in a RWD car, in slippery conditions and hit a slick spot and do a few 360s nearly hitting people.

I hate snow, the only reason people love it down here is b/c they use it as an excuse to not go into work. Even if there is a 1/4" of snow on the ground people call off work and places shut down...

Sorry... </rant>

i find it really funny when people freak out because of a few inches. the FIRST time i ever drove there was about 5" of snow on the road, its not hard, you just can't drive as fast as you normally do :tardbang:

You want to have some real fun? Come into the metro DC area and watch people REALLY lose their minds! Talk about panic

I'm from Buffalo originally, so I can relate.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Nowadays, I see people here in NE IL."trying" (??) to "drive" their car AND talk on their cell phone in lousy weather conditions, it's "normal" around here. :angryfire:

Myself, I refuse to answer the cell or talk on the phone while I drive, so I can pay better attention, to avoiding the other drivers who yap on their phones.

Patheic incident:

Less than a month ago, I witnessed a bunch of multiple 180 and 360 degree wipeouts / spinouts, one right after the other, happen on an icy bridge as I was going to work.
Fortunately, the spinouts were on the opposite side going westbound, I was going eastbound on a highway divided by a median (thank goodness.)

The last driver that I witnessed spinning out was a lady in a Dodge Stratus getting completely sideways and spinning out while she was barrelling down the highway at about 60 mph (too fast for conditions) and she had her cell phone held up to her ear, as the car started doing a 180.

I mean, she couldn't SEE the multiple wipeouts already in FRONT of her as she was barrelling down at 60MPH ??? :banghead: :banghead:

I'm just glad I'm not in Cincinnati anymore  I hear it's getting quite bad up there... ahhh, it's a little chilly right now here in the 30s but it's better than being in the teens with over a foot of snow.

Naw, that's just a southern Maryland ghetto-mobile thing. I can't count how many cars I've seen abandoned on the side of md roads (most of them wrecked turdbombs). And that's in clear weather LOL. I'm not coming out there in the snow.
