The "SWAP" New Pics added 9-16-05

Well guys.....the swap began this morning at 7a.m.

This was the way the rides looked when we walked out the door to 100% humidity and 87 degrees at 6:45a.m.

Waiting for the Shop to Open

In the beginning.........

The parts keep piling up....

Some of the cars of the other guys that showed up to be a part of this......

And the last thing we saw before they closed up shop today.......

As you can tell from the pics.....we didn't get it done today...both motors are completely prepped and ready to come out...had a lot of setbacks that couldn't be helped.....so it'll get finished by the end of next weekend....done as in....BOOST'D!!!!!

I do have alot of other pics of the actual process....but I'll wait to post those till it's done

some awesome shots man, to bad you guys dint get more done today. the neon with the kaminari kit looks nice. are you gonna keep yours lookin like a sleeper. or are you gonna make it look fast as hell.

it will look just like it does now....no new body parts....huge spoilers or anything like that.....but I have some different wheels now........

thats cool. i hope to do this someday, or maybe just buy an srt-4 and make it look slow. my car now has got some rust damage underneath and i dont think it will last me a real long time. its too bad my mom drove it alot in the winter. stupid salt

$3500 is about right for any wrecked SRT.....sad ain't it...a wrecked SRT is worth more than a non-srt neon...

Well, I haven't talked to anyone that's done this swap that paid as little for the donor as I did.......Hell, If I remember correctly....Gary Howell paid like $7000 for his......2002srt4(Matt) paid 3000 for his, but it was hit in the front, so then paid another $1500 for the parts he needed that were no good on his donor.......

If you can find them around what I paid....I say go for it....but you also have to look at what you are going to have to buy b/c it's no good on the donor....

The list of what I had to buy:

both axles
power steering lines
power steering pump
ac lines
intercooler
downpipe
water pump
timing belt
thermostat housing, top and bottom
map sensor
intake manifold
tranny mount
timing belt tensioner
radiator fans and shroud

That....that's about it.

Plus numerous wires soldered together, and many times trying to weld the water pump housing. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. If you're going to do it make sure u know how EVERYTHING is.

lol ok 3500 is what the engine and tranny are worth just about, it depends on how bad the car is, in josh's case, his car is nonrepairable and the parts wont make a junkyard much money. so this car is very cheap.

I payed 1500 for my donor SRT but also had to buy 2000 worth of parts.....sooo....yeah 3500 is usually about right.

here's a fun fact for you guys......after all was said and done with.....I sold $3300 worth of leftover parts after I finished with my swap. Now keeping in mind that I pretty much used EVERYTHING mechanical off the SRT......I'd say that that turned out pretty good.

Im gonna start lookin for srt donors in a few months, once i start saving up. I might get this show on the road within a year or so if im lucky. Ooooh man its gonna be GOOOOD.
