Batt. Cable Confusion

Post by Dimas » Wed Mar 12, 2008 12:19 pm

I have an 03 R/T, neg. batt. cable was rusted like hell, positive seems fine but dont mind changing it, looked up FSM online and doesn't tell me jack. any suggestions?

Well ya I got the cables in today and I was looking at them and I'm like wtf is this. well at least on the positive cable I'm confused.

There seems to be to lil wires running from this end piece. Can't find the plug for it on the new wiring.

travels all in here and disappears.

connected to neg. battery cable no clue where this goes at the moment.

the pos goes to 3 different places, from what i remember its the battery itself, the fuse block, and the alternator. i know theres a big red wire going to the starter but im pretty sure that goes to the fuse block itself

the neg side goes to the batt, atop the drivers front wheel well at a grounding point. and i think it connects to the block and also the tranny. just follow the existing wires and connect it where it has to be connected, but connect the + side first then the new - side with both old lines gone that way you dont risk damaging the alternator

it's not that hard mate, just look at the pics. connect 2 ground wires on the passenger side, 3 grounds on the right and then run one line from the battery + to the alternator.

Alright I took danman's engine pic, *sorry* to see if I got this right. Obviously I know where the cable begins.

1) the main neg. ground point

2)behind the CAI is the smaller of the neg. grounding point

3) and from reading the thread apparently that silver end piece goes onto the batt. tray I suppose the bolt next to #3

Image

4) is where the pos. connector goes but this lil wire I see is throwing me off

Image

does it bolt onto the end of the connector? am i pretty much gonna have to undo all the tape leading up to fuel injectors? will electrical tape be good enough to reseal it or is there something else I should get?

5) And I know the smaller end of the pos. cable goes into the relay
Heh.
