1st gen's never had magnum anythings... the magnum stuff is all 2nd gen stuff.. but because the bolt patterns are the same the magnum manifold intake/exhaust fit the the first gen including the head.
I would post a mod list, but Its too long and i'm way too lazy....

hmm i didnt know that. i just figured it was a magnum mani since it was made of metal. thanks for the heads up. Ok now to another question then. Would a first gen intake mani work on a second gen and would it give me any perf gain?

most 1st gen's are plastic they require a different tb also.. there are metal ones but they still use the 1st gen tb assembly.

Kevo, hopefully you look again before spending $$$, the first gen SOHC engines all had plastic manifolds, some had metal inside and could be ported out a bunch, but those are kinda hard to find as I understand it. First gen DOHC have an aluminum intake manifold which has a totally diff bolt pattern, Diablo25 also mentioned the TB design is diff from first - 2nd gen. I own 3 first gens, 2 DOHC and one I'm doing a 02 magnum swap into. Looking at the design of the manifolds, I'd say stick with the 2nd gen one and upgrade if you can find a magnum one. First gen intakes have a harsh 90 degree bend towards the TB. Whereas 2nd gens are much less at like a 40 degree or so. Just get an cold air intake and a 60mm tb and you should be more than happy, lates.

thanks for the tips but im not exactly going to use the mani as it stands now. Basically its going to be chopped at the runners and be made into a log style intake mani.

That's great, but like they said...if it's 1st gen and it's metal, it's probably a DOHC mani. That won't bolt up at all.

trust me, ive done my research on it already. Ive actually been speaking to someone who did just this with an aluminum sohc intake and had pretty good results doing it. :)

Don't forget that sohc and dohc ports are different, besides bolts matching up.

you could probably go get your "umadbro" polished up to make it look like a new comeback again
