deciding on a new exhaust ... need some help

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

deciding on a new exhaust ... need some help

Post by -Devil- » Sat Mar 15, 2008 4:39 pm

ok, hopefully sometime this summer i will be ready to do this, so here is what i am thinking ... open to other suggestions ...

car will be n/a ... with a ported and polished head, crane 14, afx computer, 60mm tb ...

considering a longtube header, to some 2.5" pipe .. with a spiral flow muffler (moroso)

http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categoryd ... code=35054

then straight out the back with a single tip ... around 3" at the most ... possibly use one of the straight through apex-i type mufflers ... (if i could find one that doesn't have a 4" tip on it that is) ...

the issue i am running into, is no shops around here want to touch doing it because of removing the cath converter ... so i am considering having one installed after the longtube and having it in a section that can be unbolted out and a peice of pipe put in it's place when i want to ...

is there any company that sells a setup close to this ? ... all i can find mostly are for the srt-4 .. and it is 3" pipe which i think will be to big for what i am trying to do ...

car will be driven on the road some ... but mostly building it to start taking to the local drag strip to have some fun...

my main concern with the cath converter ... is according to howell .. the comp i am considering .. will melt the converter ...

i guess i can just let them install it .. then take it off and gut it out ...
