It comes and goes because there is two pieces to the bearings, a top and a bottom. It makes the loud noise when one bearing spins ontop of the other and sits on the top of the rod journal, essentially making the rod too long. When the bearing spins back into place (or when both spin to the bottom side of the rod journal) the noise goes away... kinda. It'll soon turn into a constant knock and it'll fail. Very bad.

Spun bearings are constant, that noise is erratic, I'd say do a good engine flush with good chemicals like something offered from BG and not the kerosene in a can offered at most auto parts store's. Let the cleaner clean out any carbon deposits and residue then change to a fresh 5-30w oil....
that's definitely a lifter tick, one of your 16 lifters are not bleeding down and basically act as a solid lifter causing that noise. Mine did the same thing before until I got the whole rocker setup replaced....
