Hood Damage

Post by AMilbut » Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:14 pm

So I got a hood off of someone. I'l leave names out of it, and here's how it came to me... It was supposedly immaculate when he shipped it.

Any suggestions? Is it worth taking to a body shop? How much can any of you guess-ti-mate how much it'll cost to be fixed/painted?

Sorry but I didn't resize them on purpose for clarity.

This is what both corners look like. I think it was drug across a 4 lane high way on it's top corners...

From the left air dam opening it's bent every so slightly. From the opening to the left side. Where the light bounces off is where it's bent. It's kind of hard to tell but it's there.

The biggest damage in my opinion is probably the two top corners. Any ideas on a cost guys to have it fixed?

Oh and here's a picture of how it was when I opened my door. Apparently the UPS guy just left it there and didn't even bother knocking because of how fucked up the box was.

Notice the bottom right hand corner. That's one of the top corners of the hood.

Ouch! That sucks man :(

I don't know what a shop would charge, but I would guess in the $150.00 area for the corners. As far as the dent, it may be fixable without repaint...hard to tell from that pic.

Sorry to hear about the bum deal, hope it didn't set you back too much.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I don't wanna be judge, jury and executioner here but IMO the seller should be responsible for packing things properly. A frame made out of wood or even PVC should have been made for the hood. Looks to me as if they just wrapped it in some material and then wrapped it in multiple boxes.

UPS is coming to pick it back up tomorrow. Teach those bastards not to even knock on my door when they deliver something. Didn't even give me a chance to refuse delivery.
