Stage Upgrades

Post by This Ya Boy » Fri Mar 28, 2008 1:40 am

If I were to get a swap done and then wanted to down the road get the stage upgrades from mopar which vin do I use for it to be specifically designed for my vin. It asks for like vin and mileage on modernperformance so would that mean I use the old vin from the wrecked srt or mine?

I wish I had the swap already...

Thats not always the case  You must use the VIN number that is in the PCM. If he had the SRT PCM flashed to the VIN of his Neon to use his SKIM and keys from the Neon, then he'd need to use his Neon VIN. All depends on what VIN you use for the sentry system... if you swap everything over from the SRT like the SKIM and keys... then you'd use the SRT VIN.

Yeah, but you have to love being able to bolt on a kit and making 330hp.

Like Diablo said use the vin the of the pcm. If your vins from the srt, its printed on the pcm.

Ok so lets say for example the guy I'm buying a srt swapped car from doesn't have the VIN for the donor and has the srt keys instead of having his comp flashed... how do I get the stage upgrades?

Is there any way to find out the VIN through the engine?

Like maybe if it were connected to some computer through dodge or anything?

This stuff is extremely foreign to me.

if the stage 1 is brand new just unplug the skim and it will work

if not.. call the dealer with your NEON vin #.. and ask them for the 4 digit skim code (might need to go in and give proof of ownership). have them flash that into the used stage 1 pcm (it will know the vin # from that skim code) using their DRBIII. and voila, your car starts..

if they say this won't work, tell them they're retarded  i used this process for mine

so by getting the skim code it'll tell you the VIN for the srt engine?

you can't get the skim code from the srt4 engine unless you have the vin...

i'm telling you to get the skim code for your NEON!!.. again NEON (caps for effect!!)

you don't need anything from the SRT4 unless you really want to use the srt4 skim module and steering wheel, etc

ok so if the car has a srt engine, transmission, suspension, but the person doesn't have the VIN for the srt engine. I can just use the VIN from the neon for stage kits???

<-- Is sooo confused.

that is correct

get the skim code from your dealer using your NEON vin

use that skim code to program the staged srt4 pcm to your NEON skim, etc (this needs to be done at a dealer using a DRBIII)

it'll work... trust me

no, if you order it new online from modern, you give them YOUR cars vin (it's in a window on the dash, on the door stickers, the trunk, and probably 10 other places on YOUR car {not gonna say neon like other chucklehead does cause an SRT-4 is a neon :tardbang:}), then you install it yourself cause it will already have all the necesarry info in it and your dealership will charge you at least an hours worth of labor ($115 at mine) for something that will take you 30 minutes to do at home with nothing but a couple sockets. you don't even need to jack the car up, altho it does make it a bit easier to access the bottom bolts.

if, for some reason, mopar will not code a staged SRT computer to a non-SRT vin, they will most likely give modern performance a call and they will in turn call you. if this happens, I have a stage 1 computer that i will sell you that you can take to your dealer and have them install and code with YOUR cars vin (lol see above parenthases).

hopefully this was a clear, semi-concise explanation of things.

chucklehead???

so if i said your neon.. and your srt4.. would you understand which car or motor i was referencing?? i'm not denying the srt4 isn't a neon, but i think anyone can figure out the difference...
