Turbo Exhaust Question:

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Turbo Exhaust Question:

Post by freerider » Sat Mar 29, 2008 12:01 am

Ok, so here is my dilemma, please bare with me on this. I tried searching and found nothing too helpful...

So, I am getting ready to run a turbo set-up. I am finishing buying up parts (all I need are some Stage 0 SRT injectors, and a few lines), and I am debating on what I should do for an exhaust and down pipe.

I am thinking about going through with a 3" exhaust with a 3 inch down pipe and electronic cut-out. However, I AM DEFINITELY on a serious budget. The less I have to buy, the better. I would hook it up to my 2.25 stock exhaust system, but I know that would e heavily restrictive, PLUS I had to modify it to get my current header on my car (pics in garage). The Original manifold looks like it would have bolted up to the original piping no problems (I have also been told by a few SRT owners that it would).

I don't want my car running so restricted I am loosing a ton of power, but at the same time, I dunno what I should do.

I have also been looking for stock SRT exhausts to run (it would be the cheapest alternative out of all of them). I think it is the same size piping though so I don't really see the point.

What are your perspectives on the situation???

Hmmm, let's see. Yes, your exhaust will bolt up. Other than the muffler, you aren't looking at much restriction. If you want a 3" exhaust (and I'm assuming you need an exhaust that large?) then you have to lay down some dough.

If you are running a stock SRT set-up, you don't need a huge exhaust.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...
