emissions in ill

ok looked through the illinios gov site and cant find if im going to have the car test or not bought the car in southern ill in 05 and its 08 and no notice yet my sister has an 06 santa fe and shes gotten one already the reason i ask is cuz i want to either delete the cat or get a high flow race cat?

Stage 1 ecu = no emissions problems (in terms of throwing codes) at least in MD.

he has an sxt, not srt. Stage 1 won't help him.

They do it all through OBD II. If you fail I think its six months to fix it. I am a little worried about getting mine for the srt, sxt was no problem. Oh, and yes you will get a letter asking to bring it in. Now some places that a real rural in IL do not have to do it because there is no station around and also the fact that its rural, not like a huge busy city

I was pretty sure that its only Chicago area that has emissions testing in IL, Ive lived in Quincy aKa Little Chicago for that last 5 years and never once received a notice to have the car tested... As a matter of fact a local dealership resold my old WRX when it had a full catless TBE...

"Depends" on the county.

Chicago area counties, definitely get tested. Some Rockford areas too, I believe, as well as East St.Louis and possibly others.

I just got my IL emissions test done for the first time and it is an '04.

No inspection or nothing just a MIL check really.

Waste of time!!!

Yea. It sucks. I have to get the exemption done for Grrtrude or they will pull my license.

Im with Tyson on this one, along with a couple other people. Most of IL, you don't have to worry about emissions. Chicago are is the only area that I know of that is emission tested.
