15" tires going extinct?

Post by Jerome Adams » Thu Apr 03, 2008 8:01 pm

Anybody else think that there are fewer choices available for a good summer tire in 205/50 or 205/55?

I am currently running Kumho Ecsta SPT but cant seem to find them anymore in those sizes...there are other good options available like BFG sports, Fuzion ZRi, Kumho MX, Yoko S Drive, Falken 615, etc. I wonder how long before there are no performance tires in the 15" size available?

Discuss....

I've had no problems getting any 15" tire I've wanted so far.

15" is still a very common size

falken still makes a 205/50/15 rt615. What more do you need? Considering its a great tire for a big turbo srt, you'll never outperform its capabilities.

Edit: why would you run a 205 on a 7" rim? 225 ftmfw.

I can't find the Kumho Ecsta SPT anymore...but yeah I am considering the Falken 615 or the Kumho MX when it is time to replace.

I know there are still great options available, but I think they are slowly going to be limited. All the new stuff seems to be directed at 17"+. 15" are the new 14"/13" LOL

How do the 615's work for a tire on a DD? How long do they last?

The reason I am running 205 on a 7" rim is because that is the widest tire I could fit on my stock rims. I couldn't afford new rims and tires (or I would have got 16's) so I put the almost new Kumhos back on. I have heard the Falken 615 run wide (205 is closer to 225) so I doubt the 225 would fit. 225 Kumho MX might fit though, with the 35mm offset???

I still have quite a bit of tread left on my 205/55 ecsta spt, but I will look into some 225/50 when the time comes...

anybody else running 225/50 on the 15" slipstreams?
