Some may know and others don't, but my fiance and I are buying a new townhouse. It is a new construction so I'm going to be posting pics of the progess. We will be having meetings along the way with the builders to see the progress. And tons of pictures will be taken.

The surroundings look nice. I love the trees. Good luck on your new house. When is the estimated date for completion?

Wow dude that's exciting! I'm jealous! And you're only 23. I hope I can have a house of my own (and a brand new one at that) that young.
What are your plans for the garage?

No garage. My parents will only be a half an hour away so I won't be too far away from a fully setup garage (lift, power tools, lathe, mill, welder, etc)
Its up in Riverside.

I had a house built back in '96-'97 and I was on site almost every day. Good thing too considering the shenanigans the builder tried to get away with (I was in litigation for almost three years- finally sold the house at a loss). Hope that you have better luck than I did. The surrounding area looks nice and you are building at the right time (mine went up in winter- NOT good!). Looking forward to more progress pics!

Sorry, to hear about the troubles David. There are already a fair amount of townhomes in this development, so I figure if there were to be any problems there wouldn't be anyone living there.
Yeah, building in winter is definitly not good in your area. Around here it could be tolerable, because there isn't much snow, but the cold would get to people.
As of last week they still wanted to sell 2 more homes in that row before they started construction, so hopefully they are closer this week. It is a very fast selling community.

Little update:
They finally put the Sold sign on our lot
Little bit of bad news, the completion date has been pushed back because a different row is selling out first. There were two people that back out of our row and switched lots. We are just going to have to live with my parents for another month or two. I just look at it as more time to save money.
Estimated completion date is now Oct/Nov 2008

It's going to be a ton of fun Frank! My parents built their first house last year and my Dad took a couple thousand pictures while it was being built. They've really come in handy too because now he can refrence back to them when he puts in additional fixtures and knows whats behind the dry wall and the problems he might encounter running wire. They have been a life saver...

Well, it appears that this new house is not going to happen. We are going to have to back out of the contract. The government passed a law that eliminated a very large chunk of money that we were going to be getting. Unfortunately we will more than likely be losing our deposit as well. I'm going to try to get it back, but I know the odds are slim.
We have been looking for houses like crazy the last couple weeks and hopefully we will be able to find something nice.

Have an attorney go over your contract- I would think that you would have the right to get your deposit back due to this being the result of something legal from the government and not just from changing your mind. This really stinks!

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

It was a program called the Nehaimiah Foundation.
Joe, the bill was passed at the end of July.

Ah yes. I used Nehemiah on my first house. The Ameridream program is similar.
The government deemed it necessary to close the loophole that allowed people to use charitable intuitions for down payment assistance. They were supposed to re-structure the loan programs to make it easier for people who qualify for loans but don't have a lot of cash available for a down payment. Not sure what they did though.
Sorry to hear that man. But you should find something soon so you can get the $7500.00 interest-free loan on this year's taxes

If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

I hear ya. I'm wondering how that will play out.
A couple that my wife and I are friends with work for Fannie and Freddy...kinda funny. If I hear anything helpful from them I'll let you know.
