Post by boxcarfan » Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:18 pm

any of you guy ever thought of trickin the computer into thinking its in open loop when you wanna race/drive with motivation. it seems to be a bit more peppy when its in open loop. maybe its just me tho. and the rpms drop way faster when you let off the gas...which i like. lol.
so yea anyone ever thought about this? ever? lol.

I know about open loop i've been unable to fix the car's o2 sensor issue for months.

The car is not quicker. This is because the car drops rpms faster in between shifts. when this happens the car drops out of the power band and in effect the car is slower.

also the car is in open loop at WOT anyway. You should notice that when in closed loop you have a smoother power band at partial throttle. In closed loop this does not happen. Also the A/F ratios are usually off when in open loop all the time. This is really ineffiecent for power and MPGs.

you'll be running rich all the time, foul your o2 sensors.....if you want to race someone, reset the PCM right before and you'll get better acceleration on the car. It will be at base mat again and won't have the grocery getter toon it learned over the last X amount of months since the last reset!
