Optima Battery sizes.

Post by ZeroChad » Sat Apr 05, 2008 5:03 pm

What group size optima battery do you run? Did you need to modify the battery tray? I read a thread with a person using size 35 without modification. On average how long can you run your system using the optima and still be able to start?

I'm looking to replace my battery tomorrow and get rid of this Walmart everlast crap that the previous owner had. I've drained it once and now it doesn't hold charge for crap. I'm thinking of going red top since I have a fairly small system. (200Wrms amp +Sub + 50w per ch HU) I'll also be installing my udp here in a few days.

34/78 is the size you want. from what i have read it will fit with some minor modification to the tray. i just installed a stinger spv44 and it fit perfectly.

naw, you don't have to mod much at all. It just slips, ever sooooooooooo tightly into the tray.

Have one in the srt. It hangs over the side and has sex with my intake when I drive. I have heard they do not like holding a charge for long, but they are famous for always starting.

very true. I let mine set for a week or so, and it's a cranky female to start. You need to let it charge up regularly, not just starting it up, but driving it around for the alt. can do it's job.

Wow what an improvement. I went with the 34/78 yellow top. I got if for $160 at costco, Not too bad of a deal.

My system sounds better, my car starts amazing quick, smaller amount of bogging, and most of all no more jumping the neon! It does hang off the left of the battery tray slightly, but it really isn't an issue. The tray holds it pretty snugly.

Next up. Throwing in some decent grounds. I should probably start a project thread. This is going to be an eventful spring/summer.
