Loud Shifting

Post by Dimas » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:51 pm

Ok I have an 03 R/T, about to hit 90k miles, now everytime I shift you can hear inside and outside of the car. I'm just wondering if that is somewhat normal or wtf is going on? What thinking bout doing the a tranny fluid change but wanted to know your guys opinions first.

what noise are you hearing? Clutch going in, or just the gear shifter moving? Do you have solid bushings or anything? Could be that the bushings are bad, but a fluid change is always a good thing if done right.

Describe the noise, or better yet take a video.

Agreed, a quality video with clear audio like takin from a digital camcorder will help us determin what the sound possibly could be...

Pop the cables loose from the transmission, (with the car parked, brake on) and move the shifter with the cables lifted so they don't hit anything. If it is quiet you know it's not in the shifter/cables. Then move the shifter arms on the trans to see if its something with the internal shifting mechanism. If it only makes noise while driving/moving, then it prolly is some issue in the transmission.
