spring broke!?!?

Post by DJ CptnCrnch » Thu Apr 10, 2008 10:27 pm

A few days ago i heard a bad clunking noise coming from the front drivers side of the car....It sounded like metal to metal hitting each other. I looked under the hood and wheel well and didnt see anything. Yesterday I had some time and took the wheel off and my Eibach spring broke. Its not bad, but the bottom part cracked. Not enough for the spring not to work. Do you think MP would warranty this for me. They are prob about 3 years old. Have you ever head/seen anthing like this

you might just want to call Eibach and see what they say. You still have a record of the purchase dont you? maybe you could even buy a single spring directly from the company if they dont warranty you.

I believe eibach gives a 1,000,000 mile warranty on the springs. Contact eibach or the store you bought them from and they should replace them. Not sure if they would give you 1 spring or a whole set, but considering one broke already I would push for a new set.

WOW, really?! That's a first. I've never heard of a spring breaking, espescially an Eibach spring.
Tell the truth, you tried to jump the creek to get away from Roscoe and Flash again didn't you! Yeeeee-Haw!

I'd push for a complete set since the other 3 have been on the car for 3 years and are already broken (no pun intended) in and may have a slight bit of sag in them. You wouldn't replace just one brake pad or one tire right? I'm sure you're car is waaaaay under the 1,000,000 mile mark!

Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car. Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you're going when you hit the wall, and torque is how far you drag the wall with you.

:withstupid: You would essentially have one corner with a little different rate from the other side, while it would be close, it may create an unpredictable handling situation in an emergency. At the minumum both front should be changed, so the sides are evenly matched. The rears are already the same,so that isn't as big as an issue. but if you can get 4 new ones...
