Mr Clean Auto Dry...

Post by mztykal » Sun Jul 11, 2004 10:28 pm

...it sucks. It didn't dry on my car, it dried on my mom's. It ate off my wax. The soap smells like Dawn. Though it does make a good rinser though.

Other than that it sucks. Oh well, glad it was only 20 bucks...

well me and a couple friends have a complete diffrent experience. THe thing is friggin awesome. Perfect for washing a car. ONly complaint is that on my friend Trans Am it left a dull finish, but just needed to be buffed and it was shiny again. wax was still there.

i work for a company that does water purification for hemodialysis (hospital) applications (http://www.marcorservices.com). we have "mixed bed" resin tanks that remove almost ALL minerals and contaminants from water. with a 18" x 6" bottle i can wash my car about 5 times. no spotting (cause all the minerals and contaminants are gone) and there is absolutly NO haze, dullness, or removing of wax. just pure clear water drying into thin air.

The Mr. Clean Auto Dry is just a less precises version of what we have here at work. It can't last 20 car washes without sacraficing filtertering capabilities. it is a semi-useful attempt to make this water filtering technology efficient for car wash use.

The bottles and chemicals my company sells to hospitals for water purification are EXPENSIVE!!!! no normal person would want to pay the money for these things just to wash your car w/ them! And then to have them regenerated when they crap out is also expensive.

But my company is nice enough to put one huge bottle on the water hose used to clean company and employee vehicles. and they replace it when it craps out. How nice of them.

Oh, and in case you wondered what a 19 year old is doing in the water purification field. I do Technical Writing (owners manuals, Company Operating Procedures, and Work Instruction), AutoCAD drawings, and sometimes even build portable Reverse Osmosis machines and bicarbonate mixing machines for kidney dialysis. Not that anybody cares or anything  .

I happen to love the system! My Wife's burgundy Durango gets water spots if you look at it cross-eyed and swirl marks if you even go near it with a towel. I got neither using the MC system..really...I wish this thing had been out years ago. It's so nice not to have to dry off my silver acr and her durango. I dont know why others have had bad experiences but it's been nothing but great for me!

Ive got one, and love it, BUT you can get the same type of filter system at Lowes for around $15.

The handheld spray is nice for washing/rinsing, I suggest you use a sponge with it, and I stopped using their soap and used some Eagle 1 soap, anyways, works great,. very happy with my $11.99 MC autowash

ever since this came out, its all ive used on my car...never leaves water spots, even when i just wash one section and rince it off w/ the regular spray option, the water just sheets off...i love mine, and i never use anything else on it.

believe it or not, the paint or clearcoat has alot to do w/ how a car takes washing it a certain way. my moms (00 malibu w/ stock paint) turns out just fine w/ just some reg car wash soap, but mine turns out terrible with reg. soap and rinse. the dust and dirt doesnt stick to the paint as easily as it does w/ other soaps....

in short, i would highly reccomend it personally
