Sorry to bust everyone's bubble, but those 20mm spacers would be perfect for +48mm offset wheels. I ran full 1" spacers on 45mm offset wheel, and just barely rubbed the fenders with wide tires. Mind you, 1" is the same as 25.4mm. So 20mm on a 48 offset would be perfect in the rear. In the front it might be a bit much, bet I'd wager 20 bucks it would work just fine.
Hopefully you haven't already just gone with skinny spacers....heck a 5mm doesn't even get you to a 40mm offset. Just look at it this way: 20mm spacer is the same on those 48 wheels as running a 28 offset wheel to start. Which works just peachy as long as it's not like 9 inches wide.

Correct. The link he posted for the 20mm spacers is for pre-studded ones though. Personally, I don't even like using 5mm spacers on the stock studs, because it can ruin your lug nuts (they strip out at the very end). Any really thick spacer has to be the pre-studded kind where you bolt the spacer to the wheel, and then bolt the wheel to the new studs that are built into the spacer.
Stock wheel studs: 5mm spacer maximum when used as an add-on
Longer wheel studs: You can increase the spacer width relative to the extra length of the studs
Pre-studded spacers: The spacer simply has to be wide enough to let you bolt it on, without the stock studs protruded out into the way still.
This picture speak a thousand words. These are the 1" units I used on my car

And this is a picture of my car (a LONG time ago) with those exact 1" spacers in the rear, and 5mm generic spacers in the front

Still missed the point that the 20mm spacers don't need longer studs. The factory studs stay installed. The spacers themselves have new studs (same length as the factory ones)
Quality spacers are a great way to use wheels that you would never be able to use otherwise. You just have to do it right.
