Get just enough to clear the tension strut. (That bar that it's hitting) Too bad they don't make those with an offset bow where the wheel/tire is, as the main function of the tension strut is to keep the rear suspension from folding under while braking, a clearance notch
formed in wouldn't have much effect on it's function.
I don't recommend modifying the OEM one in any way, but if there was an aftermarket one available it would be better than spacers. The OEM one is only $36 list, so it's not like they are an expensive piece. Just check it to make sure the wheel didn't do too much damage to the bar. Even tho it isn't much risk, a mark ground in it could cause it to snap down the road. With the wheels being aluminum, I don't think it did it much harm. But like I said it is prolly not gonna happen, but better safe than sorry.
