Huge thread, many pics. Need help!

Okay, went and took a lot of pictures today, basically like forty. I need to know what some things are because I'm stupid. And I have a lot of questions.

1. Back due to popular demand. Question was if there is only the half shaft on the passenger side, and the axle goes right into the transmission on the driver side.

2. ABS Module? If I'm not doing a brake conversion...what do I do with it?

3. Is this just some homemade boost leak tester?

4. What is this gadget?

5. What is this for?

6. Are stock injectors blue?

7. Is this for the lower radiator hose? (The red rag)

8. That hose in the front of the engine, what is it, and where does it go?

9. How about this? Where does it go?

10. This open hose, what is it, where to?

11. Anyone know what this is?

12. Am I missing a bolt here?

13. o2 sensor for the o2 housing? Do I need any other sensors?

14. What's this, and where does it connect? It says clutch on it.

15. How about this?

16. Brake cylinder? I can't reuse the 2.0 one?

17. Random part? I look under my steering wheel today and found a piece that looks like it. It says do not reinstall.

18. Coolant line to overflow bottle?

19. This? That's where it connects in the second pic.

20. I'm guessing this is part of the intake.

21. This piping is for...?

22. Hot side pipe? It's metal-like. Maybe aftermarket.

23. This is?

24. Am I missing a bolt/screw on the right side of the WGA?

25. Throttle cable?

26. What harness is this?

You can keep those comments to yourself. I'm looking for help, not your comments. I know for the most part what I'm doing, but I basically only have a weekend to do the swap. I need to know what everything is and be troubleshooting as little as possible when it comes time to complete it. I could guess at the stuff I don't know, and figure it out, but why not know for sure going into it?

Please say helpful things, or nothing at all. Perhaps you should go watch Bambi.

2) Cap the lines and sell it.

3) Yes

4) I think that is the fuel regulator/filter off the fuel pump

5) Ground strap for...something (may have been added)

6) I think they are considered black, and I believe they are stock.

7) Yes

8 ) It is one of the A/C lines, and it goes from the compressor, towards the drivers side of the car, then up to the upper rad hose and curves back to the passenger side to connect to the line by the P/S cap.

9) It is a hose for the coolant to the turbo IIRC

10) Same as above. One is feed, one is return. (I am not 100% on those though...they may just be part of the heater system as well...but in either case they carry coolant)

11) That is the fuel supply line from the hard line on the firewall to your fuel rail

12) No. A bolt goes from the cat pipe and you use a nut on top.

13) It is a O2 sensor. It might be the upper one. Not sure what you mean by needing other sensors though.

14) That is the hydraulic clutch assembly.

15) That is a vacuum supply hose for the brake booster. The larger connector on the left goes into the hole in the booster in the next pic.

16) That is the booster and master cylinder together. You should be able to use your old ones.

17) That is your brake light switch. When you press your brake pedal, it pushes that switch to activate your brake lights. It says do not re-install because it is set up by a ratchet assembly inside, and once it is set to the right distance, that's it. If it fell out of your pedal assembly, I would put it back in...it's important.

18 ) Yes

19) Another ground strap.

20) Yes

21) It is the hose that connects to the inercooler and then connects to the pipe in question #22.

22) Yes, and the pipe is factory, but the blue hose is not.

23) Part of your air intake.

24) Yes

25) Yes

26) It appears to be the lower engine harness. The only thing I can make out for sure is the starter connection on the lower right side of the pic (black round plastic cover over an eyelet).

Hope that helps you a bit. A word of advice however. You really need to get your hands on a factory service manual. It is invaluable for showing you how these things work together and where things go. Also, take a good look at a complete SRT and take pictures if possible for reference. It will help you a lot

10. Use your old hose off your Neon or get a new one & it goes right above the other hose on the firewall

14. That is your master cylinder , you will need the slave cylinder because it looks like someone just pulled it off of the end of that
15. Vaccum linefrom brake booster
16. You can use the same one that's on your Neon
17. Brake pedal switch
18. Yes
19. Ground wire
20. Intercooler pipe to TB
21. Other side intercooler pipe
22. Intercooler pipe that connects from the turbo
23. Air box intake hose
24. Yes
25. Yes
26. Can't see the pcm plug but it looks like the engine harness .

Thank you so much Danteneon and Blackyblack! I figured a lot of those were what you guys said. I just wanted to make sure. I sat there just looking at things for at least twenty minutes today trying to get a picture of how everything works in my head.

And Dante, I do have an FSM, on PDF. I've skimmed through it several times, I suppose I need to reference it again. Just thought I should post up here with some questions.

For the coolant feed and return lines, it seems I missing the rest of the lines? They need to go somewhere I think.

Like Blackyblack said, for the coolant lines, you may very well have the back part on your car. I'm not sure that the set-up is exactly the same between the 2.0 and the 2.4 though.

No, they aren't for the turbo. The lines I was originally thinking of are different ones. You have lines like that on your engine as well.

I'm not sure what you are asking about in picture 1 or maybe didn't read all the the tread well enough.

But in either case I only see that you have the half shaft but no axles. You are going to need both drivers and passanger axles. The drivers is just like any other axle but the passangers is female on the half shaft end

Well, yeah the axles will be here next week, then I'll get started. I just wasn't sure if there was a half shaft on both sides. Now I know. Thanks.

Nutmeg you better give your self more time then a weekend.We started our swap last year and we are just getting done.Why well we had a crack block so out it came,we got a short block and mover parts over to the new short block and the last thing we had back fix 3 bad disk Good luck I hope you can make

Yeah, but you haven't had the engine out of your Neon for that long, have you? I mean, I "started" my swap back last spring (1 year ago) when I got the engine, but I've been getting my stuff together so that once I take the engine out of the Neon there will be as little down time as possible.

1. Yes - Only one half shaft, the axle goes into the differential (tranny) on the driver side.

2. If you already have ABS, you don't really have to swap it. If you don't use it or touch the brake system on your car you'll just throw a code and ABS light will be on since it can't find the ABS module.

3. Yep, kind of a weird one at that lol

4. Fuel regulator out of the pump.

5. Ground cable, looks like someone added it from a grounding kit.

6. No idea, can't remember...

7. Correct, lower radiator hose.

8. If you're speaking of the one on the ground, that's the hot side pipe that runs from the charge pipe (pictured in question 22) to the intercooler on the passenger side of the car.

9. That hose runs to the ports in the firewall which go to the heater core.

10. Same as above, you're missing a rubber hose but if I remember right, you should be able to use your Neon hoses.

11. Fuel line which connects between the fuel rail and the line coming from the tank on the firewall.

12. No, that's normal. There is usually a nut there with a small metal tab to keep the nut from turning as you're screwing the bolt in. While you have the engine out, I'd highly suggest installing a MaxxFabb o2 Housing since it's a hell of a lot easier with the engine out of the car.

13. It's either for the o2 housing or for the downpipe... either one. You just have to have two all together for the downpipe and o2 housing.

14. Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder. The portion to the left and in the center is the master cylinder. The part after the quick disconnect which is located right on the edge of your tub at the top, past that is the slave cylinder... however, the main part which goes into the bellhousing doesn't look to be there. Might have been cut off because I don't see it in the picture.

15. Part of the vacuum line. The bottom picture goes into the brake booster and if I'm not mistaken, that nippe (not the green one) is where the boost gauge is connected

16. Yep, the brake master cylinder. You can use your 2.0L one, I'm using mine right now and it works fine. Some have swapped it since it could give better brake feel due to the larger calipers. Also, the hole in it is where then 2nd picture in question 15 goes in.

17. Brake pedal switch which activates the brake lights. You can reuse it.

18. Correct.

19. Ground cable which on that one, attaches to the strut tower by the upper torque strut (motor mount) It looks to have been upgraded.

20. Yes, that tube goes from the driver side of the intercooler to the throttle body. The nipple on it is where the red vacuum line runs and the hole is where the IAT sensor is located.

21. See question 8.

22. That is stock, the end that is black goes to the turbo and the blue side goes what is pictured in question 21. The blue coupler is aftermarket and looks to be cut. You'll need to remove that to install whats pictured in question 21. The tabs located in the center is how it's bolted to the oil pan I believe. The same bolts are used to attached the power steering lines.

23. Stock intake tube which ran from the airbox to the turbo inlet. Missing a small pipe though but if you install a CAI, you wont' need that pipe.

24. Yes.

25. Correct.

26. Looks like the engine harness since I don't see the PDC.

We did that also but what I mean is thing that you don't see like with me we had a crack block and did oil pore out,it was at the Dodge dealer getting ny two PCM program.But a little voice said to do something so if you have a problem so some one posted that they want to swap a new short block for a low mileage drive train so we made the swap the motor out of the car had 41000 on it but that what I mean
