Post by rud3boi » Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:24 am

ok another swap/ will it fit question

i was told that a stratus egine will be a direct bolt on and i have read in places like the other org that it will fit with a modifications
so i wanna know if this is true and what exactly do i need because i am itching to turbo and im broke and cant find me a pt srt engine ither
i can get a stratus engine for 300 maybe cheaper

also i am planining on bore and stroking the shit out of the engine
i wanna know wat the most i bore and stroke it out with out hurting the block thank you
dont flame i been tring to reasearch but im having alot of confusing problems and iwanna make sure it will work

So you're talking about the i4 Strati? I heard somewhere that they do not bolt directly in. I don't know why you'd really want to, but you could always do custom mounts.

i thought the 2.4 strati was the same engine maybe i shoulda checked the codes

but i see that its somethign to do with the alternator. i just wanna get my swap in cheap and i know you can only have 2 of the 3
fast reliable cheap

do you know anything about the bore and stroking idea? i dont really understand what stroking is tho.

Well it's just a 2.4 naturally aspirated so you're not gaining nearly as much as if you just SRT swap it. I think they are actually the same block.

Well you know what bore and stoke are right? Bore is the diameter of the cylinder, and stroke is the distance the piston travels from top to bottom of the cylinder. So if you bore and stroke it you're increasing the displacement, you might get a 2.6L i4, but it's still N/A.

Now if you swapped in one of the R/T 3.0 v6's that would be bad ass...

wait r/ts came in v6?
oh you talking bout the strati lol got me all hrmmm ... nvm
see the thing is that a v6 strati is way to big
my plans are to bore and stroke it as close to a v6 as posiable ie my goal is 2.8 its only 4 liters more and if we can get a 2.2 stroker i think a 2.8 is feasable
after that in which point i will turbo or supercharge
prolly just turbo as a blower is just hard i dont want power steering so thats sum room there
my plans is to buy and build the engine then later after everything is done ill drop it in. and mega squirt
im just scared of fing up or not being able to make the dame thing fit then also i can have time to look for a srt tranny if it bolts up

You need to look into DCRs stroker kit. 2.6 is the limit with a full overbore.

As far as the rest goes set a goal of HP and be realistic. An SRT motor can goo to just below 500tq before the bottom ends throws a fit. Spend some more on better pistons and Main straps and your good to around 700. But big numbers aren't everything. Unless you live in Florida where there are empty straight-aways everywhere it's probably not for you. Besides, the lag on thet kind of power would be awful (as a Daily Driver and low compression). Shoot for low 400s with a GT3071 and you'll love the instant hit and big numbers. Want more performance? throw that setup in a 1st gen and shed 600 pounds. Want more than that? Tube-chassis it to shave another few hundred pounds. Want more? Carbon Body Panels. Want MORE $$$$$$$$$$$$$

So set a realistic goal and you might actually reach it.

Thought that was a 2.7L kit.

I must concur with the power goals. I had a 2.4L turbo with more then 300whp and 300wtrq and had tons of fun with it until I torched the bearings in the turbo due to it being boosted past its limits :) A 400whp car would be a nice daily driver and it will get you up to speed quite fast. If you want big numbers then I suggest you be prepared for lag or use nitrous to get to the sweet spot where the turbo spools. My future goal is 450whp and I know it will be damn reliable as well since I have been down the road of driving a boosted car before.

Oh and I have seen a modified SRT-4 pushing 600hp and the dude doesn't know how to drive it and rarely does drive it anywhere except to dyno days to show off his big power numbers.
