offset size question

Post by jckevns » Tue Apr 22, 2008 1:57 pm

i bent my rim over spring break and discount tire co has finally come to the conclusion that they can't get a replacement for me

i found one on ebay, but it is 42 offset
will this fit if not is there a way to make it fit like aftermarket struts or wheel spacers

i have eibach springs and was planning on getting some new struts this summer, i would rather buy 1 rim from ebay and make it fit then buy a whole new set

Thats a good question. I believe since the offset is different it will make the wheel go out further or further in. This will mess up your tire wear I believe. Not sure though.

well the link i was looking at is for all 4 rims for the same price as 1 brand new one, so i can keep the same rim but it'll still be cheaper than buying a new set of a different rim

edit: the tires on the rims on the ebay link are 215/50/17

i've been doing some researching and i've read that up to 45 offset depending on wheel design will fit
so i'm thinking 42 offset should fit if not a 3mm wheel spacer would do the trick
am i correct or way off

the rims on ebay come with tires that are 215/50/17, i'm currently running 215/40/17 so the new tires might be just a tad to tall if they don't fit i'll use the tires that are currently on the car
