Mopar lip kit

Post by 04_NeonSxt » Wed Apr 23, 2008 11:58 am

Ok so i'm new to this forum, but I do want to know your opinion on this. I have a Solar yellow neon and a mopar lip kit. But the kit is silver, and i am considering just installing it that way for the two tone look. Here are some pics that I have done, there not my neon but I cant remember who's they are. I now this is a popular topic but I would really like your opinion. Thanks

:hello2: First off, Welcome to 2GN.

I voted no, as I believe it would look cleaner, all one color. Just my .02

I'm with the above. It looks so much cleaner if its all one color, In my opinion anyway. I'm betting you are going to find a lot of people voting this way but ultimately its your car so you should do what makes you happy.

I voted no. I've seen it done before and thought: "He bought a lip kit off of someone but couldn't afford to get it painted."

In germany we call that like "hillbillytuning".
Either it says "it is silver so everyone can see what i (the big tuner himself!) have changed" or "look i'm too poor/stingy/lazy/whatever to make it right".

Welcome!

It's been said before, and I'll say it too....don't do it. It is a hideous color combo IMO. You could pull off black, but that's it.

Enjoy your stay

silver and yellow doesn't flow but black and yellow you could pull off, if you had black rims and tinted headlights and tails then it could work IMO

Ok, well does any one know about how much it should cost to get them painted, because if I remember they dont have solar yellow paint for our cars so i'll have to get it painted at a shop. I can instal them myself, though.

The going rate is usually about 2-300 per panel right.?, Lip pieces are a little smaller so I would say around $500 all around, just a guess?. Like Diablo said, it really depends on the shop.

For reference, my friend got his entire body kit painted for $600 at a reputable place around here, so I would expect far less than that for a lip kit.

Wow in the first picture it almost looks like there are two foglights side by side. Hm....

I've seen worse colors on a car. Most times it looks terrible, though. Maybe if you added a silver racing stripe it wouldn't look as bad. Don't go for mix and match parts and panels, though, say for instance if you put a silver spoiler on it. Then it just looks thrown together. All yellow is kind of boring though.

I flip-flop on this one. It doesn’t look BAD, and back in the 80s, Mustangs, Z28s, and Z24s all came specifically with silver kits on them so I think it looks alright. I do understand the line of thought that the kit should be body color. I scored a red kit and my car is graphite – I too sometimes think it would look alright to just put it on like it is but I’ll likely paint it first.
