Not true. R/T stock motor is 9.8:1 compression and a sohc.ThrIsNoSpork wrote:R/T=DOHC
i dont think you should be boosting a motor you know nothing about buddy. just my .02
It's not the amount of boost it can hold, but how much boost, on what turbo. Safe bet is 225 WHP/WTQ. More than that and things start getting shady.

So many neons so little time.

All 2nd Generation Neons are SOHC, Magnum or non-Magnum. The only DOHC is the 2.4L that is in the SRT motor.

As a general rule, you can get away with 8psi on a stock internal neon motor from a small turbo. If it's spinning the tires in 2nd on dry road easily, back it off a little bit. (3.55 FD trans. A 3.94 FD will spin 2nd easier at the limit)
ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

actually, with a good tune and some aftermarket tuning stuff (MS) you should be able to run more psi of boost. It's also in the tune as well as internal strength. Our cars can handle without a perfect tune 5-10psi, but personally, I would pop in some forged 8.8:1 pistons, do some crank work like balancing and make sure your top end and tranny is all good to go

o yea thas embarrassing, alright well let me ? this.
If i wanna turbo my 03 R/T I would either have to srt swap or convert it to a 2.4L DOHC first then get a turbo for it right?
Also if I were to SRT swap, would I be able to use the magnum header, if so would it be a greater gain than the stock?
Dumb ?s I know but i gotta learn somehow.

But a header will shed heat. Heat is what helps spin the turbo. A "turbofold" is what is used for most applications. That and the R/T header will locate the turbo in the wrong spot.

Nah, your R/T motor is usless. Just yank it do a SRT swap and I guess I could be talked into buyign it from you. Allthough I don't have much use for it so I guess I could pay you say 150 for it.Dimas wrote:ah ok I was just wondering what exactly comes on a stock SRT engine and wondering if I would be able to salvage anything from my RT one to make a lil more better
