sorry, i was talking about the brand itself, i found them at rock auto, and i called them to ask about the quality, they said it is on-par with Moog, but cheaper. I am in need of ball joints.....

this is a $10 part, that is what worries me......

yet, they come with a 5 year warranty, and look well built....

So here it is
FYI, all Mevotech parts have the exact numbers at Moog parts, i was told by rock auto that these are "unofficially" the same parts
this is a really well-built piece, i am not disappointed (till now at least ), and it comes with a 5-year warranty ......
here is my question, where does that metal ring fit in this? any ideas ?
thanks

It is an internal snap ring, so the only thing that I can think is it might hold the plate that the grease zerk mounts in? It won't do diddly for the outside of it as far as retaining anything. I think your best bet is to Email them with your ? and those pics. I hope they know better than us!

I got nothing. I have no idea why they included that c-clip.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Well, i think a lot of non OEM ball joints have this ring, here is moog's part....
http://info.rockauto.com/Moog/Detail.ht ... 47_ANG.jpg
the same goes for spicer and ACDelco neon ball joint
maybe this has to do with the part being usable for more than one vehicle ?
as for the boots, they are just pushed into place, will they hold?
thanks,

The boot is very rigid at the bottom so they hold well once pushed into place. And it is possible that the ring is included for other applications, but I can't think of any that use it.

I got these from rock auto (online store) for $10 each, and around 8 to ship. got them within 4 days total .rock auto are great, and i have been very happy with their prices, selection and service
how to install, i used OB's How-to in the Chassis How-to section as my reference, + reading the FSM + google. it seems like a really tricky job, and i think i will attempt it this weekend if i can secure all the tools. i will also change the control arm bushings while doing it ....
