thanks for the best wishes! I was going about 70 on the highway. I agree I shoulda swerved, but I thought it was a small cat and not an enormous possum. That's what I get for driving tired lol. I'm not one to gross out easily, but the large piece of flesh between the exhaust bend and gas tank was freakin nasty!
I was able to get the piping reconnected today. I had to rent an exhaust expander, and buy a 3/8 drive, but luckily I had the right sockets laying around. (random case of late grandpas tools in the closet ftw) There is a slight exhaust leak now, but its not too noticeable.
My 02 sensor is not going to be hooked up for the drive back though. The wiring separated right at the solder joints...lame. I had used the same wire for all the extensions, so I have no idea which is which w/o a multimeter. But atleast its driveable!

9-8-09 - More Bad Luck
Well I'll start off with the bad. I rewired up the 02 sensor, and my car ran in open loop the whole way to chicago and back for my vacation
I'll need to get a new one. It was a crapshoot to see if it still worked. On the way back from the trip, 1mile from my apartment, the cooler in my backseat slid during a turn and burst open all over my stuff, completely drenching my camera.
I let it dry out, and now its being extremely sporadic.
As for the good stuff. I have a rear brake setup from a 97 I'm going to swap out so I have functioning rear brakes now. I purchased new lines, EBC pads, and summit rotors for them. They should be here this week with the 02 sensor. Hopefully that all gets here so I can fix it this weekend.
I think the school club is doing a dyno day on Saturday I might go to if I get that 02 on.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw the package.
Well the results are in....

155HP 147TQ (mustang dyno) not too shabby. I was really hoping for 160whp, but at 155whp that's almost 180 at the crank. Quite a bit more than the 130 at the crank my car came with. I was impressed by the torque curve. Pretty dang flat over a wide range. There was no big dip.
Thingsthat matter:
Stock SOHC comp
MPx UDP.
3.55 Tranny
Ebay CAI w/ K&N
Mag Intake (working) w/ 60mm opening
Exhaust polished Mag head
Comp 400
Wiseco 10.5:1 (420a) pisons (somwhere 10.8-11 for sohc)
Mag exhaust mani
Cat delete downpipe
Borla Catback
I think I could gain quite a few ponies from upping the rev limiter and more advanced timing with megasquirt. A long tube head would net more too. I'm going turbo though, so this will be a very nice NA baseline. The car is already gobs of fun to drive as it is.
In other news. I'm working on my rear disk setup. Just waiting for a parking brake cable. Looks like I need to repair a piston on one of the calipers too.

Mustang dynos read low. Ibet if you had it dynod on a dyno jet youw ould be above 160 easily. I think its a 15% difference

3200-5000 is the closed window. The RPM scale on the dyno is off somewhat though. I think If you slide the scale to the left half a line, so 3k would be 3.5, then its closer to what it should be.03blackrt wrote:What rpms do the tuning valves in your manifold open/close at?
Yeah I can't wait Jerry. I'm really hoping for low 14s. I know I could get into thirteens if I had a higher rev line.

Rear Disk Brakes!
Well the install went okay. I ended up purchasing new rear hubs, lines, and one new caliper. I have EBC redstuff pads on there like on the front. I went with the cheaper summit rotors on the back. They are definitely not as good quality as the front rotors, but they'll get the job done.

I rotated my tires today, and found out that the front DS tire has actually been contacting with the top of the wheel well. I guess I'll have to turn up the damping for now until I find a solution.

The EBC rotors in the front look pretty good still after about 5 months of usage
